Burned a New GS400 Lexus
Second legitimate kill for the L! On the freeway going to pick up trophy from car show a couple weeks ago (2nd place!) when some guy in a brand new Lexus GS400 comes
barreling up the on-ramp to match speed with the Ford. Cruising around 80 in O.D. I wait til he gets alongside and nail it. Well you guys know what happened next. Drove off like pulling away from a stoplight. Shut it down around 115 mph and 15 lengths ahead. Give the GS a chance to catch up again. Traffic opens up again and with the GS less than a
car length behind me I nail it again. (This time with the O.D. turned off) The Lexus stands on it when he sees me go for it but the car just couldn't keep up. Shifted out of third somewhere around 120 or so and still
pulling hard. This time an easy 20 car lengths ahead. My wife said when we started to pull away the guy would look from his speedometer to the road and back again. Guess he couldn't beleive a half-ton truck was ripping up his new toy. After that he would not pass. Only following the L in utter
disbelief. (What a blast!) Stay tuned for more stories of high speed mayhem...

My '99 "L" will pull my '98 GS-400 by three truck lengths from 0 to 100 mph. In a side to side at about 40 mph, the truck will slowly pull away but never over a length and a half to 100 mph. The GS is speed limited to 149 mph so the truck will ultimately go faster. Just don't try to keep up with the GS around a corner!
IF you pulled one by 15 or 20 lengths, either you have an exceptional truck or it was a GS-300! The only external difference is a GS-300 logo instead of a GS-400 logo on the rear deck. (On the other hand, I could have a slow truck and a fast GS!
)
No flame intended.

Doesn't sound like he saw the rear of the car
. Nice run.

I'm pretty sure it was a GS400 but you're
right. It never got in front of me long enough to find out. Maybe it was just the right conditions. Overcast, 67 degrees f. and the truck making a lot of boost. Or maybe it was the wind resistance on the dealer plate on the GS that slowed him down.
Either way, I'm still smiling! By the way-adp- love the GS. Almost bought an electric blue(?) 98 myself. As soon as I can get some track time at the local strip I'll let you know what it turns. It is way faster than my
94 Lightning was and it ran a 14.60 (Borla exhaust, K & N, M/T slicks).

REDV...
You are right, nice kill anyway. If I remember correctly the GS-300 does about 8 sec 0 to 60.
I would love to get your numbers. Stock, these trucks vary all over the place, although even the slowest is pretty fast!
On a Mustang Dyno (not comparable to the DynoJet or whatever), my truck put out 392 corrected horsepower at the crank with chip and filter.
All kills are good kills!
By the way, the official name of the Lexus color is Spectra Blue Mica. Who thinks these names up anyway?
Cheers,
