Post 2001 Lower Intake / Better I.C.

Does anyone know when Ford is going to release the lower intake with the better intercooler over the counter?

I gotta ask here.....I checked this back when I posted the damaged intercooler pics. How are you going to fit this on your L's?

Apparently it is totally different.

Just wondering.

According to the Ford employee I talked to they are not interchangeble. It requires a whole different intake(larger air flow) that requires a different bolt pattern for the supercharger so we won't even be able to retrofit it. This is where some of the extra HP is coming from, the increased air flow.

12s shouldn't be a problem once the chip programmers do some R & D. Wow. It may just be time for a trade-in.

Just want to back track a bit. I was thinking about the leaking inter-coolers and the fix for them. I was not worried about an inproved performance inter-cooler. If you want real performance out of the inter-cooler find a way to help it cool the intake air charge better. I know of a vehicle that was making 850 horsepower and was able to make an additional 50 horsepower by cooling the fluid for the intercooler. I have a desige for a system and Bob (High Risk) you know what it is. I bounced it off of several engine builder today and they liked it.

Yes, I was talking of an up grade to the flow and better cooling not just the fix for the leak.
They installed a new intercooler in mine back in March but I think it was too early to be a fixed one but I'm not sure.
My understanding was that the extra power in '01 was coming from a more efficent lower intake and more efficent intercooler.
I thought the heads were the same for '01. 2002 was going to switch to a 3 valve head and unless they are going to a different blower the lower intakes could be changed.

As for the intercooler-cooler I have tried this. The guys at the Shootout at Cecil saw it. It might not be pretty but it works. I haven't been down the 1/4 mile since my "snooze run" in Maryland. Truck is in sick bay right now. So I haven't been able to do any more testing with the cooler.

Hers is something for you.I have two of the Hi-flow oval bore throttle bodies. Do you want me to turn one of them into a Hi-flow Lightning throttle body for you. Let me know.
