LSR FRIDAY NITE, WOW! WHAT FUN
Wow!!!! We had six trucks show up for the races, where were you DUCK. You need to dump any bimbo that doesn't want to spend Friday nite at the races. Well everybody is running good, I'm getting use to my new MT ET streets (these tires are awesome and consistant, I ran two exactly the same 8.96 in a row, never done that before at any time) and CAKA is launching at 2,000 RPM. Boy, the difference in times between early practice 6-8 and eleminations 9:30-11:30 was an average of .15. You really need to know what you're doing with your bracket times. Well, we make the plan to line up in the same lane so we don't have to race each other. CAKA redlites but the other five all go to the next round. This is really great. They call street stock and we all race around to the staging lanes so we can line up behind each other again. We get there first and everybody else lines up behind us. What riot! nobody wants to race us. The starter knows what we are doing but lets us get away with it and goes to the back and makes the straglers move into the right lane. Three L's survive. I get a bye in the mext round, Alex brakes out by .01. I'm running a mustang for the final round. He leaves first I catch him just at the end, Why doesn't my lite come on. Breakout, 8.96 on an 8.98 dial in. Man, this third place is really starting to get boring. Jerrod(hereinafter to be called REDLITE GROSS)redlites in the final round so the Ls finish 2,3, and 5. We really had a great time messin with the heads of othe other racers. The anouncers were into too talking about the reallys strong Lightning club in Houston. Jerrod is changing his tires and the back of his jack tips up, he goes what the he@@, and I look and he's sitting on a little hill. I go around front to hold the truck and Jerrod runs to the Drivers door to set the, you guessed it, with the rear end up in the air. Big laughs, by all!!!! Great converation after the races and a few cold ones to boot. It don't get any better than this! (until heaven of course)

That sounds like a lot of fun, noelvm. I might be able to do that tommorrow.
What kind of cars were running other than the mustang?
Not to stampede all over your parade, but I cut a 8.996 on my stock F-1s (and no weight in the bed), I think you should be able to launch stronger out of the hole with those tires.
Glad you had fun, looks like everyone here is in a hot debate over minor stuff.

Tundra, I agree, I think I can lauch a lot higher with the new tires, I was primarily concentrating on consistancy which is the key to bracket racing rather than best time. It's easy to launch at 1000 RPM as you can see the line on the tach.
We get a lot of different cars to race. The fun thing is in this class most of the cars are daily drivers.
Last week there was a highly modified SVT Cobra capable of running low 8's (1/8). I ran him once in practice and it was like I turned off the key. Well, he come up to eliminations with a 9.5 on his window and he has to run me and I have a 9.02 on mine. He quickly changes his to an 8.50. I pulled him bad off the lites and he never caught me and we both broke out, me running an 8.96 and he running an 8.24 so I won by virtue of breaking out less. Last nite I ran a new WS6 firebird. He had an 8.50 but he never caught me because he cut a .74 lite and I cut a .55. I think I will try a 2000 rpm launch next week just to see what I can run, but as I said early runs are not characteristic and later I'm trying to win so I don't experiment.

Yeah, sorry about that Noel. We started partying early in the afternoon (with full intentions of cutting it off early so I could come to the track). After what seemed like only an hour or so of drinking (was really more like 5 hours) I realized that it was almost 5pm and that the last place I needed to be was near the L. (Hell, it was probably dangerous for me to be off the couch!)
Anyway, sorry about the miss and I'll just have to try harder next week.
Glad to hear y'all are doing so well. Why is it that evertime I miss, y'all do so well? Am I bad luck?

I'm probably not the best person to tell you exactly how far it is from LA, but I can give you a pretty good idea of where it is on I-10. Go through Houston and Katy and it's about 15-20 minutes west of Brookshire and about 5-10 minutes west of Sealy. You take the Beckendorf exit (just past the Stewart and Stevenson Tactical Vehicle plant) and follow the signs.
