Truck has lost it's mind

Well driving along today to cut some bushes at a friends house. Rice burner eclipse comes buzzing up beside me and I floor it and he does to. Well I let off because he was about to rear end someone and I let him over (shouldn't have) anyway right after that noticed my engine light FLASHING. Truck has no power whatsoever. It's spitting and sputtering like crazy. So I just put put along and all of a sudden bam power is back and engine light is off. WTF!! About a month ago the engine light came on and then woudln't go off. I took it to advance auto and they ran a check and the truck was not throwing a code, he reset the light and it went off haven't had any problems until today. Any idea what the hell is going on?

If you have a chip it could have come loose or the contacts are corroded. That would be a good place to start!!! Jim

I got an even better one. This morning i woke up to drive to my shop and i stopped at the corner store and got back in the L. well i turned the key forward but didnt crank it. well when i did crank it i started hearing raido interferance coming out of the passanger side speaker and out of the sub. i turn the raido off and it goes away. this is not the first time eather it did it along time ago and it started up again to day. the L drove really funny the hole way to. well i get to my shop and i set the alarm and it just starts going nuts for no reason. so i checked the doors, the hood, no voltage drop what so ever and i set it again. i walk in to my shop and i am there for like 10 minutes and it starts going nuts again for reason at all. not the is a hole lot of WTF??????????

Nope clean intake filter. It acted like it wasn't firing on all cylinders or wasn't getting any fuel. That is the way it felt with my past experience with problems like that. I have no idea I was hoping someone might give me somewhere to start. I have heard about the spark plug problem and thought this may be a symptom.

If you hit your rev limiter, it will do that until you shut it off and restart the truck

Good point Don, I was going to suggest that too.

Happened to me once when I was screwing around doing a burnout before I got my chip.

I don't think that happens if you have a chip though.

Hmm well that may be a possibility because I took it out of o/d but I don't think that i was going that fast but possible. But I didn't shut the truck off it just started acting up missing and then it went back to normal and the light went off.

Check your MAF...it may need to be cleaned. I had to replace mine once before and when it went bad...it was just like I had a huge cam in it. I trailered it to the Dealer here because at the time I couldn't figure out what was wrong, when we pulled it off the trailer and cranked it in the shop I had a gathering of about 30-35 techs wanting to know what size cam I had. I just laughed and said I don't know, you tell me. About 3 hours later I got a call from their "certified" Lightning tech and he informed me that my MAF had gone bad.

Before it went out completely it did small things like what your experiencing now.
