Post Viper Met My L Today!!!

I was out today driving my new L when I noticed a Silver with blue stripes Viper come off an off ramp in front of me. Curious I hurried up to catch him at the next light. I could not get beside him so I was righ behind him. His license plate read BORNLSR. I thought this guy would be up for a race. As soon as the light turned green I was about 6 inches of his bumper. It took him a few seconds to notice me, that was when he must have dropped two gears and nailed it. No kidding this guy almost wrecked. That was the fastest that I have ever seen a car go from the 12 o'clcok position to 4 o'clock. He pulled ahead by 5 or 6 car lenghts and was waving for me to come on. I caught up to him and it was on again. I got the jump on him this time and was ahead of him by three car lenghts. That's when he pulled up beside me ( I was going 120 at this time), I saw him change gears and by by lightning. He just pulled away like I was on the brakes. I think that this was not a stock Viper because their was some type of writing on the side of his door but I couldn't stay beside of long enough to tell. A little ways down the road I caught up to him and he gave me the thumbs up. Oh well this was my first defeat in my L, I guess you can't when em all. Anyone know NOS's phone number???

I wouldn't take this defeat too hard. I mean, think about it, you were running against a Viper. When he pulled up along side you at 120, he was jst playing around with you. Believe me, I know first hand how brutally fast these cars are. They don't need to be modififed. My dad has a bone stock 1996 Viper GTS Coupe and believe me, it has enough horsepower and torque to choke a hippo. It also has a six speed transmisison that was designed for extreme high speed. I've driven my dad's and it runs in sixth gear at 95 m.p.h. at about 1,800 RPM. Also, think about the power to weight ratio, the Viper weighs in at about 3,500 lbs. and the Lightning weighes over 1,000 more. I won't even mention the aerodynamic advantages that the Viper has over the Lightning.
Again, don't feel bad about losing to a Viper. It does what it does very well, just as the Lightning does. They both have different purposes in mind for which they are specifically designed for.

This was an ADS Viper. I saw him again today. 490 horsepower no wonder he was
eager to race.

I think quiet a few of us have lost to a Viper. The thing about Vipers is that they torque out pretty close to same rpm as Lightnings do plus they have about 50 more lb/ft. Add that to the weight advantage (about 1300 lbs) and the race is over pretty quick.

From about a 50 mile per hour roll I ran even with one for about a fast second or two then he was gone. Didnt even slow down for a thumbs up he just hammered it and kept on going.

Unhappy

Yeah but, you see? No two Vipers are the same and one might run 13.99's and one might run 11.90's, right off the assembly line on the same day. It's just a mystery. Damdest wierd stuff you ever seen? And to complicate things, if they have a chip and a K&N filter, well then, they surely would be in the mid 10 sec. range. I would run a Viper anyday in either of my clunkers.

My viper runs 9.5 with just a chip and filter. How come your cars are so slow MAD DOG. I think it's the operator and not the equipment.

Although I'd take ANY Viper, having this one could be cool:

Striker Twin Turbo Viper.

Cool

REDHOTL---I didn't say Vipers were slow or even that I could beat one. I just said I would be glad to race one. I've raced
several ZR-1's, but the Vipers have not shown up at the track except just to sit in the stands and watch.
I hope I get one of the 13.99 ones with no aftermarket chip and air filter. LOL
