Looks great!!!!!

I have read that this is a pretty expensive proposition.

By the way, the hitch cover looks fantastic.

Damn Alan you beat me to the punch. That looks really sweet. So, how much did you end up paying for the piece?

Cool

Peter and all,

I ended up paying $700 including the installation. The glass is the Ford Privacy glass and the installation takes quite a bit longer than you would think. Notice that there is no trim piece around the window like there is on the original slider. The window bolts in and the trim on the inside and outside has to be removed to install it. Also, a special, flexible two-part adhesive and sealer has to be used to accomodate the expansion and contraction of the glass. I wasn't lucky enough to get the glass at the price some of you managed but at least I beat the price increase.

Cheers,

adp...what window do you use to throw your beer cans out of now? Just joking, looks great. My dealer wanted $250 to change it out when I bought the truck and I thought they were nuts. Did it for free on my 98. I guess that was a good price.

Question

Just a question. Why would you NOT want the slider? When it's nice out, mine is never shut.

adp,
I have to get off my butt and get mine installed (been too busy between work and the rental properties). The only squeak in the truck is the slider (been squeking since the day I picked it up).

Wink

Been cruising in Alaska, never saw the sun for 8 days! Now, back in Sedona, I wish I was in Alaska! ...Hot here!

There have been threads for several months about the slider. I don't like it because I don't like to see the two verticle bars in the mirror. Besides, here in the South West, the increased tint can cut the in-cab temperature by about 15 degrees and that is significant.

I personally think it looks much better without the slider but everyone has his or her own opinion.

By the way, I have this Ford sliding window for sale........
