Post FORDSALES, I got a warranty question...

I noticed a small chip on my driver's side door, and its not the infamous door crack kind. I purchased the paint protection thing and I was wondering if it is covered in anyway possible, or did I get taken for a ride, salesman said I didn't have to even polish it after the treatment (I polish it anyways). It seems as though my tonneau cover has a sopt with cracks in it, can I get a new one under warranty also? I got the 7year/100k mile warranty. Thanks in advance.

BTW, just over 19k miles, purchased 9/25/99, no mods

it seems to me that the tonneau, if it was factory, should be taken care of by the factory. If it isn't a factory product then go to the aftermarket company that you purchased it from. Generally there is a year warranty on an aftermarket.

The chip is another matter. The paint protection products generally warranty against paint problems caused by bird crap, acid rain, sun, paint fade, etc., etc. Not chips.

But you should read the agreement that you received by the finance person to make sure.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, the tonneau cover is from Ford, and its great, except for that one spot, otherwise, I am very happy with it. It makes the truck look complete. I'll look into the paint protection agreement, thats the last time I buy one of those...

As for the tonneau cover dilemma, if the cover is a Ford accessory, its covered under your 3 year/36,000 mile basic warranty plan.
