What to do

joining the airforce, my dream since i was 15 was to get a ford lightning. And now that it is finally possible i am going to do it. Im wanting to get a sonic blue one but dont know exaclly what to do to it. Ive dont alot of research but i find it alwase best to go to fourms to ask for information

I want this thing running mid 12s, or even better if its avalible to do without messing up the reliability of my engine.

If possible can somebody help me get a list of mods,
A price for them
And the hp gains for each one.

I got 4 years to work and a lifetime to enjoy it, thx for any help

Everyone will tell you you are going to need a few things.
1. Chip I prefer SCT
2. Cold air intake like the one Johnny lightning and JDM sell
3. Pulley I would go with a 6# lower
4. Single Blade TB
5. Drag slicks
6. MAF again I prefer the SCT Big MAF
7. Factory tech Valve body
8. PI stall converter
That is the combo I had back when I was running mid 12s I know that is alot and other have done it with less but that is what I had man. I can't remember for sure but I think with that combo I was in the 450 RWHP range. The firts three should be the first things you buy. They will turn the truck into a whole new monster. Also have you bought the truck yet? From what I read it sounds like you have not. Look on NLOC.net under the GEN 2 for sale section. You can find truck there with fully built motors and not pay much over what you would pay at a lot for a stock one. Just last week a fully built L went for $24,500.00 and it had almost everything you could ever want on it. If you wanted a black one a friend of mine is selling his 2001 Black L for $18,000.00 OBO. It has a new motor in it and looks great.

I got you man. When you get in the Airforce you should become a member of the credit union and you would then be able to get a loan for the Lightning you choose. What ever you do don't buy on out side the base. Those guys are crooks.

I personally don't like the toyos. They are too hard for my taste. I like the Nitto 555s and the 555Rs. they are great tires for our trucks. 20s are what I'll be going with when I have the money. I have spent all mine on the motor, tranny, rearend mods, and guages.

I hated the proxies, they're a very hard tire, I'd stick with the F1's at that rate.

My truck got into the twelves with the following:
CAI intake
4lb lower
LongTubes+HighFlow Exhaust (JDM Exhaust)
SCT Tune (JDM)
90mm MAF (which would be default on a 2001+)
SingleBlade ThrottleBody

Didn't need a torque convertor, tranny change or slicks for that. ...and I even have 3.55 gearing on mine being a 2000.
