Upper pulley swap, tools needed.

Ok, I know about the belt slip issue but I have a 4# lower on already and a 2.80 given to me. So I want to install the 2.80 upper.

I know RPM and LFP sell the upper pulley puller/install tool. But I'm trying to avoid spending $80+.

Can the swap be done for less and still reliable (ie not screwing up the blower)? Is there tools I can rent from Autozone to make work?

And will the 67.5 belt work or will I need to go shorter?

You DEF need a puller to get the Pulley off (you can put it on without one)
I think I've heard people say yes you can rent one at Auto Zone
(if not someone rents them ???)
And yes the stock Belt will work just fine

I had 3 puller tools but I think I got rid of them all, I'll look around...

Thanks for the input guys! And Rob, if you aren't going to be pulling any Eaton Pullies in the future I could give the puller a new home!! Haha..

I happen to have a VERY NICE Ported Eaton with a 2.7 JLP Pulley on it ; o )
So you never know when I'll need a puller. If you still had no luck I'll look around I think I still have a JLP Puller Tool. I didnt get to look today (just got my stang back, got 4.10's installed) Had to take it for a niiiiiiiice ride

If you need I'll look for it and if your interested I'll "LOAN" it to you as long as you return it.

I use a steeda puller, As for the retune, I run my 2.8 upper in hot weather and remove it in the cold. I had my dyno tune done in the early spring at 65 degrees @ 12 # of boost. In the heat I seem to get around 8-9 # with out the 2.8 upper. This year I went with a quick change upper so it will be easyer to detune for the winter. The maf can make the adjustments so this works for me.

Just my 2 cents.

Ported and polished eaton
single blade throttle body
c&l ported and polished upper plenum
2.8 upper pully and idler relocate

428 rw
501 torque
predator tune

No, I still have the stock lower, Just the upper is changed, this is a sea level truck in Canada, so cool thick air. Hot air here is about 80-90 degrees.
....but I wonder about the numbers a little bit..Dyna jet...

with that set up i saw 12 # boost at 73 degrees, with the smaller upper.

Up here not to many big lower pullies, 4# is about the largest, not to often a6#.
