Could somebody please let me know how the overdrive **** on the end of the shift arm is attached? I'm surely going to break it off if I don't get some help. I realize this may be a little too technical for me to understand, but I'm willing to listen.

 

Not that this will help but kinda looks to me like it's all one piece.
