Red face Thinking About IRS?? Read This-

This thread from BON might make you think twice about it. I'm thinking that the Lightning weight would be a disaster compared to a Cobra.

I've heard of lots of cobra's snapping those rear IRS axles on launches. There is no way that IRS could reliably handle Lightning power.

With enough axles broke, Ford will surely find something better for their top performers.

THERE IS A COMPANY HERE IN WISCONSIN THAT IS NOW MAKING A BOLT ON I.R.S SYSTEM MADE JUST FOR THE LIGHTNING, NOT A COBRA REAR. IAM HAVING THE FIRST ONE PUT IN MY 2000 IN A WEEK OR TWO. ALL INDICATIONS SHOW THIS TO BE A VERY NICE SETUP. IF ANYONE ELSE IS INTERESTED, MAYBE WE CAN GET A BETTER DEAL ON THEM.

I believe the company that's doing your rear is the same one that I got the pic from in my previous post above. They did this prototype for Ford and displayed it at Ford Race Fan Appreciation Day here in Dearborn a few weeks back. I'm sure that your L will be pretty much useless for towing duty going with the IRS and MUCH more ready to autocross. Maybe you can get all specs and post them here i.e. tow capabilities, % of Cobra IRS parts content and horsepower limits, etc.
