Anyone use a 194 bulb in their Phantom's?

Planning on the blue bulb mod but can't find a 168 bulb. Anyone try a 194? The guy at Autozone said it may be a bit brighter than the 168.

The brighter bulbs also run much hotter. To the point where the plastic feels extremely hot to the touch. I left one in for about 15 min and decided, due to the heat, it may cause warpage or damage to the gauge.

The 168 bulbs will not cause any damage. I've been running them for at least a year and the guages still look and function like the day I install them more than 2 years ago.

EDIT: I searched back to my original post on NLOC about this in Jan. of 2005. I have been using these bulbs for 1 1/2 years and the part number is 168NB at Autozone.

A 168 is most likely the same or very close to the supplied Autometer bulb. Yes, no issues.

Don't recall the number I used- 192 or 194, the intended use wasn't for instrument panels. The outside of the gauge above the bulb location was excessively hot to the touch, in fact painful to the touch. Heat and plastics don't always agree. It may not have caused any damage, but I'm not willing to experiment. The only problem I did encounter was a small amount of condensation on the lower inside edge of the gauge.
