Question Lightning Speakers

Has anyone changed there Lightning stock speakers to aftermarket? If so how did it sound? Did you add an Amp>? Which speakers did you go with? Are the front and rear the same size?

Cobra:

I went with four Polk 3-way 5x7's. They are enough to change the atmosphere in there.

If you want more, check out www.MTXAudio.com for the Thunderform. WWW.Crutchfield.com is a good place to start.

Good Luck!

cobra99 - I went with 4 6" MB Quart. Add to that an Alpine V12 F353 5 channel and a 10" MTX sub.

DTopp - no rap playing in here, well at least most of the time. It is fun to pull up somewhere and put some in to watch the kids try and figure out how something like rap could be coming from a truck with some "old dude" in it.

anything is better than those stock speakers. Do you already have a aftermarket CD player on it? If so, you will be amazed how the stock speakers come to life with the extra watts from the cd player. Try that first if you want; if not, any of the speakers listed will work great..

I have the stock radio. Thinking about adding an amp but wondering where it would fit?

I put my 150 watt PPI main amp behind the passenger kick panel. There's lots of room in there. You discover huw much room when/if you put in a performance chip!

Thumbs up

I put MB Quarts 6" in the doors and a Rockford 8" sub in a custom enclosure in the back. An Eclipse amp is under the passenger seat, and the jack is in a zip lock freezer bag in the spare tire underneath the bed. I wanted to keep the storage space behind the seats and keep the stock CD changer location, so the custom enclosure worked really well.

FAST-N-HATED, I think you will be hard pressed to use the 18'.
If your intrested in a thunderform, but would like to here one first, I'm not that far away. Additionally, we may be even closer at work.

Question

I just ordered new speakers 6x8 and an amp 75Wx4(Pioneer TS-A689 and a Pioneer GM-X944). I was going to run new speaker cable to the speakers. On the Doors, is there a conduit to run new wire through, or is it only a harnas connector?

I went in and replaced all speakers with MBQuart seperates.

In the front I put 3 way seperates (tweet, 4" mid and 6-1/2"). In the rear I put 6-1/2" seperates.

I am using three amps 1 400 watt fosgate on the front, one 200 watt fosgate on the rear and one 400 watt fosgat eon the 10" JL subs.

I put the din and a half Kenwood head unit (single CD, CD changer, and cassette) in the dash and it fits perfect. The face folds down to allowaccess to the cassette player.
