Post Larger Oil Filter?

I just changed the oil in my L last weekend and it started me wondering if anyone was using a large capacity oil filter instead of the small stock one.

Question

'00,

I know the FL-1A/Fl-1AR filter used on Mustangs and nearly every other Ford vehicle is the same diameter as the FL-820.

I may be shamed and taunted for this but, it would seem that you could swap these. it may however, adversly affect the oil pressure. I'd recommend installing an oil pressure guage before attempting this. Low = not good.

Someone help me/us with this.

I am not an expert in this area but I would not think adding a larger filter would do anything to oil pressure because once the additional oil has been added, the same pressure would develop.

This is just my .02 and besides I need to increase my number of posts.

The FL-820 is used on the Lightning and most Ford trucks now, if my memory serves me correctly is metric. Where the FL-1A used on the Mustang during the 5.0 engine era is not.

I don't think you can interchange them. But why would you want to anyway, come on Ford put the FL-820/FL-820s on the trucks for a reason.

If it works don't fix it......
