Should I get my "clunk" fixed right away?
I started hearing the clunk in my front end a couple of months ago. I'm in no hurry to take my L to the dealer. I thought I would wait till I was close to the 1 year 12,000 mile warranty. Is there any reason to get it fixed quicker? is it doing any damage? I only hear it occasionally. If its not doing damage, I'll wait.

If you are hearing a clunking metalic pop,I think it is best to have them look at the bolt on the lower control arm on the drivers side.If it is moving very much it will change your alignment and wear your tires before you notice, look and feel the tires for cupping.

If for no other reason get it on record so Ford will find a correct fix for the problem. And for some reason some people on this post say it's not a safty item if the bolt comes lose and moves back and forth thats to keep it from backing all the way off and the bolt comeing out of the control arm. Ford needs to hear of all of this problem as they don't see it as big problem but only effecting just a few. So don't wait get done.

I had the "clunk" noise, occasional loud bang and erratic steering until I had the lower control arms replaced by the ones specified by the SVT tech hotline. It took three weeks to get the parts and another week to schedule the fix.
I have not observed any unusal tire wear. Lower control arms replaced at 4100 miles and now have 7600 miles. But others on this Board have had uneven tire wear (cupping)and at least one instance of ball joints being damaged. Coincidence??
I would not wait for the fix. I would get it right away. Also, when they do the repair, they should do a wheel alignment which apparently can include adjusting the rear wheels thrust angle, or something like that.
It is possible that you have the correct lower control arms, but may just need the correct bolt/washer components to negate bolt movement.
If you need the control arm part numbers you can do a search on "redlite", and it may still be posted. Otherwise, give me a holler on this topic.
By the way. this fix corrected all problems. I had a little test track near the Dealer that I could test the fix immediately.
