I eagerly anticipate your results. I am adding a PRO-M for the drags this weekend. I will make serveral runs to determine the evening capabilities and then swithch over. I know what my truck has been doing. Next will be the chip. I have been pure stock so far except for a K&N in the box. My best has been an 8.93 (1/8). Come on down on a Friday nite, you can get 20-30 runs usually. Great practice.

Is it true that this MAF is a true bolt on issue or does it need to be dailed in AKA tweeked? Help?!?

f1car,

Pro-M 80mm MAF is just a bolt on. Should take about half and hour or less. You will need to splice a couple wires for the ACT sensor but that is really a no brainer. The wires should come in the kit and the directions will come with it. I dressed mine up with that black plastic stuff that is wrapped around most of your wiring. It's cheap and got mine at AutoZone and looks like factory.

Now if you have a chip it will need to be sent back cause the Pro-M leans the beast out some. Your chip, if you have one, will need to be richen up some.

Enjoy and good luck.

From what I understand, the performance gain from any MAF reguardless of using an S&B or K&N filter can be narrowed down to the calibration of the meter itself. good example is the dyno posted by F1car.
I know this will point back to dealers and their honesty on Dyno's, but look at both Sean Hyland's dyno's, and Swansons dyno's. Two different companies both claiming about the same increase in power from the mod.
I know SHM's MAF is calibrated for the Lightning, not using an optimizer, and probably so is Swanson's.
Cheers

Cool

DTopp,

I purchased my NOS kit from a local performance shop here in South Florida.

Nitrous Oxide Systems doesn’t make a kit specifically for the Lightning. So what I did was purchase their EFI kit, which is used on the Ford Mustang. The part number is: #05115.

Then I changed the jets so it would spray the equivalent of what they consider a 100 horsepower shot of nitrous.

The jet I’m using is a #47 in the nitrous fogger, and a #55 jet in the vacuum side.

This application is giving me an additional 117 horsepower to the rear wheels on the dyno.

If you need any other information pertaining to this feel free to e-mail at mjb1206@bellsouth.net and I’ll try to answer any of your questions on how I set mine up.

Good Luck!

Before you dump your C&L, try one of their "blue" sampling tubes($32). You will be amazed at the low end power and torque difference over the "clear"(too rich) or the "black"(about right but still too rich) tubes normally sold with the Lightning C&L MAF. The only drawback to the blue tube is that it will trip your "Service Engine Soon" light as the OBD II system will detect the change in MAF calibration. You can delete this code at anytime by disconnecting the battery and turning on the headlights for a moment. I run the blue tube on the strip, and the black on the street. I've got it down to less than a 5 minute changeover. I don't have any personal dyno info to tell you exactly what the difference is, but C&L claims 11 more horses over the black tube, and based on my own experiences on the street and at the track, I believe them. If you really want to sell yours, let me know what you want for it as I was thinking about putting one on my Cobra as well. I'm going to try the one off of the Lightning on the Cobra maybe tonight at Great Lakes Dragway just over the border in Union GroveWisconsin. Anybody else near Chicago interested in going?

P.S. Your graph shows a 12+ HP/35+ Ft-Lb gain with the MAF, K&N, Chip combo which is greater than zero, but maybe not as much as it should be.
