4x4 pan on a lowered L?

My truck has a pretty radical drop, 3/4 and i was thinking about doing the FTVB mod and 4x4 pan, do u think the 4x4 pan is a bad idea since the truck is so much closer to the ground?

Yes, go with the MOROSO pan instead.

In order to be 100% safe with my lowered truck, I built my own that does not hang down below the frame rails.

I'd get the FTVB, but skip the Ford 4x4 pan and get the Moroso.

I was running a 4x4 pan when I first did my 2/3.5 drop. It lasted a little over a week before it got crushed in on a hump in a parking lot. I ended up going with a cast Al MAC pan and don't have any more ground clearance issues with the pan. The problem I have now is even after 3 brand new pan gaskets I can't get the AL pan to stop leaking.

Many aluminum pans come out of the casting warped. This is why I prefer a steel pan.Replacing the gasket sometimes won't help. You need to either apply a good bead of rtv sealer or replace the pan itself.

the moroso pan has a machined face for the gasket... no problems there...

its also bigger then the 4x4 pan...

In my case is the flange on the Jasper transmission that's warped not the pan itself. The AL pan didn't leak a drop for the first 2 transmissions they sent me. Now that I finally have a transmission that actually works after two failures I'm not sending it back just for a pan leak. I probably just RTV the seal the next time I pull the pan off.
