Question Soft Tonnea Cover/Dealers in MI

Hey,

Just sold my Lincoln yesterday and I'm ready to order a RED 2000 bolt on A-plan in Michigan. Does anyone out there have the factory tonnea cover? What do you think of it? Can you still put on a hard cover later if you have the soft cover installed, or is there a lot of dissasembly required of the mounting rails?

Can anyone recommend a dealer in the dearborn area (or north or west of dearborn)?

Thanks!

I like mine ok, it could fit better on the corners, but its still looks good. And yes it comes off very easy with an allen wrench and leaves no tracers of it ever being there.

Like SVT said, it could fit better on the corners (I have small wings) and a little water gets in. Very easy to take off the rails. BTW mine is seamless from the factory and does not have snaps.

Do either of you have any pics you could post of it? I've been to a lot of SVT dealers and have yet to see a lightning with the cover.

Ive got one, only about half the 99s came with one (right?). I heard rumors ford had trouble keeping them on around 140. Mine stayed on. around 10k miles I noticed a cracks coming from a central point near the tailgate. Its a little larger than a silver dollar. Other than that it really makes the truck look complete. Really tight in the winter time. On the highway in the summer, it taps the rails.

I'm not absolutely sure, but didn't they decide NOT to sell the 2000's witht the soft cover option? Does anyone on the board have a L with the factory soft cover?

in case anyone is interested I installed a soft cover from Craftec. It looks a bit better than the factory unit but more importantly it's mounted on an alumuum frame and hinges up on gas struts just like a hard cover, but the whole thing only weighs about 30 lbs.
