Unhappy Kenny Erwin Dies In Pratice!

Just caught the tail end of the brief news that NASCAR Driver Kenny Erwin was killed today in practice.

The accident occured in the same corner where Adam Petty was killed.

Does anyone have any other info??

Thanks!

Read about it about an hour ago, tragic news indeed. For more info go to www.thatsracin.com, www.espn.com, or www.nascar.com. The wreck was very similar to Adam Petty's crash. Thoughts and prayers go out to the Irwin family and race team.

This happened in my territory. They thought the throttle stuck.Probally not,They thought this was the case with adam petty to.It in fact wasnt the case. These guys travel all around the country without getting hurt,Then they come up here and we wipe em out.OUCH.Must be too much horsepower .we do have good air you know.Good enought to get me running 13.2sI gaurantee they do a real big investigation and change the track in Louden.

Unhappy

Very sad day,2 drivers in 2 months to loose their lives at the same track, on the same turn. That's just not good... Changes will be made, I'm sure

All,

With kenny being from Indy and the same age as me, this is a shot in the huevos.

My thoughts on both accidents in Louden are this.

Concrete surface primarily and tire compound secondary. Yes I know Bristol is concrete too, yet it is shorter and high banked, therefore slower speeds (i believe). Correct me if I'm wrong, I don't follow NASCAR THAT close.

Goodyear and NASCAR have been giving each other the collective reach around for a long time. Somebody, or a group of some bodies, are at fault and it is not entirely the race team either. The teams have logs on setup.

The point is, i think the threshold of recovery is much less on concrete than on asphalt.

I work for the company that paves 16th & Georgetown (IMS), I'll ask some of the engineers.

tragic indeed.

My 7 year old nephew called me and told me the news, he was sad. Perhaps the turn is too sharp and there is no margin for error when the car lets loose into the turn.

Many say things like that come in 3s, who's next, hope no one.
