Unimpressed 12 year old daughter
Had my 12 year old in the passenger seat last evening talking about her day, etc. I entered the on-ramp to the local highway and decided to give her a G-force lesson in physics!! WOT,.. LOOK OUT! The supercharger screaming with the help of my Airaid, my L accelerating for all its worth, pushed back in the seat and................nothing,..she didn't miss a beat talking about her day. No, "OhmyGod!", "WOW", "SLOW DOWN!", nothing. Totally unimpressed. Totally didn't even NOTICE? Impossible. But now I'm paranoid my truck is slow. Is their a therapist in the house??? Has anyone had a similar experience with a buddy or spouse?

Give her 4 years and I bet she will notice !
My niece (15) was "driving" in the drag strip parking areas and hammered it, burned about 1,000 miles off the tires sitting still before I could get her to lift and explain that the truck is NOT moving because it's turnin the tires into pools of melted rubber !!!! Big smile on her cute face tho.

Sure wish my wife was so blase about my driving. All I have to do is tap the throttle and she goes ballistic. I think it is the noise of my JBAs that freaks her, I used to drive faster in my Civic. Maybe if I let her drive it some she would mellow out.

I've never had a problem with my 13 yearold. Every time I hit it, she gets a big grin on her face!!!
Whenever we see a fast car on the road, she expects me to try and race it.
She has even went down the 1/4 mile with me, helmeted of coarse.

I know what your saying if I just touch the pedal a little to hard, she looks at me and says somthing about all the gas your wasteing and your going to get a ticket. She won't drive it because she scared that something might happen to it. And then she can't fig. out why it takes me two hour to drive the 20 min. drive from work, and I don't have any lipstick on my collar. I'm like that Lexus ad on tv.

Super Chicken - At least now I know I'm not totally crazy. I find myself taking the long way home more often than not.
My wife drives pretty fast herself, so I don’t get too much grief. When she does get on my case, I just politely say I’d hate to get into a wreck because I’m listening to you and not paying attention to the road. Works just about everytime.
alphadoggy - what do you think of the JBA headers? Worth the money?

Actually I have the opposite occur with my kids. They shut up and get big smiles on their faces. The problem is that my daughter insists on listening to her girly CDs like Hoku and B. Spears.

Yes, there is a therapist in the house. My reply? the keyword here is "daughter". Female. Opposite sex. Hot rods are a guy
thing, lets face it. yeah, an occasional female cares, but it is a guy thing.
The only thing I know to impress a daughter is to show love, respect, and admiration for the wife beyond what she sees elsewhere.
Now, go find your average 16 y/o boy and do the same thing -- magic -- a completely different response.

Ummm I can't NOT comment on that one. I am just going to have to say, respectfully of course, that that was a dumb *** statement. I don't know where you are from, but things don't fly that way here in Normal USA. And I can see it now...blah blah blah Look at the board you are the only frequently posting female in all of this GUY SURROUNDING but gimme a break. That was just dumb. Ask Lisa and Debbie and Sue and Sheila and Trace...just dumb.

Rick, when I purchased my JBAs it was for the added power, which I had read somewhere was on the order of 20+ h.p. Later I find out it is probably more like 7-9 h.p., so from that standpoint it is a fairly expensive mod. I think a chip and MAF will give you a lot more bang for the buck, and, now that I have 4.10s I could never go back to the 3.55s. However, the JBAs are much prettier than the ugly stock cast iron pipes, and they sound better, so I would do it again in a heartbeat. Once I get Danny's chip and Pro-M, and some Cal-tracs, I don't forsee any other mods in the near future.
WEll to kinda back it upi that female like the power for another word, There was about a 16 year old girl( very cute ) in her dads 96 gt 5.0. Well she asked if the truck wast fast at a stop light I said do you think that is fat and she said yes, I replied then tell me what you think about it at the next light. Well all the 5.9 say was that blur of taillights. She said she i just cough cough from excitment by how she just gotten blown away by this truck, the reset is not conversation for here. needless to say there are some who like the power of the truck and are amased by it, or can almost stain cloth seats!
I agree, wait til she's about 15-16 and she'll be impressed. Took my 14 year old nephew out in both my Lightning and Mustang, his comment: "Why is it so noisy, why is the engine screaming, what's that whistling noise?"
My 23 year old sister's remark: "You S.O.B., you're going to kill us both!!!"
It's hard finding passengers that appreciate having the air ripped out of their lungs, gripped with terror of the shear power.
Thumbs up to Ford for installing heavy duty "Holy ****" handles, would of had a few passengers bail out on me otherwise.
