Rob,

I have a before and after Dyno run with Swanson's chip.

Before:307.6 Max HP, 410.9 Max Torque

After: 361.0 Max HP, 424.3 Max Torque (Chip & MAF)

When I first received Danny's chip the 1-2 shift was earth shattering, but that was what I asked for "firm". Danny and I discussed this over the phone and we got this resolved. I also have the howling Pro-m 80MM MAF too.

Now there is a problem sending your chip back.... you go into remission, your 'L runs slower, you hope no Camaro will pull alone side you, you begin to hide, mebbe just drive at night so nobody knows you are driving a wimpy Lightning. Then about 3 days later you get this note on your front door, DAMN, you missed FedEx. Then panic sets in you read the note again the FedEx guy wrote and yes, he left it next door. YEA!!!, there really is a God. You go next door smiling.... NO!! the neighbor went to work, no mebbe he just went to the store. You watch and wait and wait and wait.... you notice a black pick-up coming the road(Chevy)... is it him, oh please let it be him It is!!!! I go over and almost pull him out of his truck to get my package. He sorta thinks I'm a little strange, can't imagine what gives him that idea.

YES the chip is back!!!! It takes about 8 minutes to re-install. Tape everything down put the negative battery cable back on turn the key and it roars to life.

When I punch mine from a dead stop it does spin the tires. The 1-2 feels as though the 'L is being pushed and chrips the tires.

On a slow Sunday drive 1-2 shift is smooth but firm so is the 2-3. It's firm and nice, not harsh. At WOT get the hell out of the way.

Hi Jarmstro,
After reading your comments I to visited the Swanson Web site. They seem to run these figures without any air filter mods. Have you any......
Surely there is still room for improvement.

nick d,

I'm willing to bet if I was at Danny's shop and my 'L was on the Dyno he could do better, however 361 HP and 424 Torque is great as far as I'm concerned with just his chip and Pro-M mass air meter. No other mods, yet. A touch of giggle gas is beginning to sound good though.

You may not be aware but I'm in Texas and Danny is in California. He and I discuss via the phone or e-mail what my needs and wants are and he does his magic trick on the computer. I suspect he may hold back some so no damage is done otherwise if I was at his shop and on the Dyno he could lean it out some more and give me more HP and a bit more Torque.

By the way best I remember Danny doesn't have a Dyno("yet",I say yet cause bet he will get one pretty soon)in his shop. He goes to another near by shop for the Dyno.

I'm happy...... just wish Danny was closer.

The Pro-M MAF I've seen have a K&N cone filter attached so this would in effect include the mentioned air filter mods.

Well, I was the one asking about my tires not spinning off the line. Well, I talked to Danny right after I put in the chip (already had the Pro-M installed-$289 from Houston Performance opposed to $350 from Danny by the way) and voiced my concerns. He wanted me to drive it for a little while and let the computer go through the "re-learn" process. No flame intended, but I thought this was bull.
Well, I guess it proves why he is the one making the chips...I now feel he was (is) totally correct. I now have approx. 400 miles on the combo, and it feels stronger every day. It was late at night (read cooler) when I put the chip in and could not spin the tires. Well, today in the heat of the day, I roasted the tires in first and got a "good" scratch when it hit second gear.
In a nutshell, what I am getting at is I am more pleased every day with the combo. Danny knows his stuff and is a very nice guy to boot. I would highly recommend the combo to anyone.
I am scheduled to have my L dynoed this Thursday (@ Street and Performance) and will post the results. These guys sell chips as well...hmmm

Nick D & All,

Just got back from the tuning my 2000 Lightning.

Danny Swanson Chip, Pro-M 80mm Air Mass, 40 Series Flow Master Mufflers, and 100 Horsepower Shot Of Nitrous Oxide.

Without the Nitrous Oxide on a Dyno-Jet, SAE Horsepower: 368.1 Horsepower
441.5 Torque
12.2 Air/Fuel Mixture

With The Nitrous Oxide on Dyno-Jet, SAE Horsepower: 473.3 Horsepower
516.2 Torque
10.5 Air/Fuel Mixture

As you can tell with the Nitrous Oxide on, the truck is running on the Rich or should I say on the very safe side. By moving the Air/Fuel Mixture up to between 12.0 & 12.9 this should increase the horsepower an additional 20 more.

But the air/fuel mixture without the nitrous I think was perfect!

Also the air temperature was 92 degrees with the humidity of 88%.

Just thought I would share my results with others.

2000 Lightning, Chassis Tech Drop Kit, 80 mm Mass Air, w/ K&N Filter, Danny Swanson Flip Chip, Flow Master 40 Series Exhaust, Billet Upper & Lower Grill, 100HP Nitrous Oxide NOS System.

Nick D,

The Pro-M 80MM mass air meter comes with the K&N filter. One complete package.

fastblack,

Danny's chip alone with the Pro-M get the job done, huh.

Post SWANSON PERFORMANCE PRODUCTS

I have been researching Swanson's MAF and chip combo. Looks like it is a great setup based on the numbers he has posted on his web site. The only negative things I have read is the shifts are too firm durring around town driving. The WOT shifts are great. I also read that It did not come off the line real hard, one guy said he could not break traction with his stock tires.

I have a couple questions for the guys that have his chip and MAF: What is your opinion of the setup? Do any of you have before and after track data or dyno data on this setup?

Thanks
Rob

Talking

Sorry for the late response, I have been out of pocket b/c of the holiday...

nick d:
The only performance mods I have are Danny's chip and the Pro-M 80 mm MAF, which comes with a K+N air filter. The open air filter makes the truck sound (and run) great IMO.

jarmstro:
I agree, for the money, this is a great combination. I am also curious about the ice water in the intercooler. I wonder what kind of horsepower gains can be had there...

How much trouble is it to drain the intercooler, and keep the fluid? It would be interesting to see what the dyno would say.
