California gave my Lightning heartburn
Just had to comment on how ****ty my my trip was to Hawthorne last week. I think they're pouring cat **** into the gas down there.
That gas has to be hazardous to any high performance vehicle, let alone normal vehicles. And I can't see how it's helping the environment any, when a engine cries for more juice and it's not there, it's gonna burn a hell of alot more gas.
Yes, I went against a TA on the highway, went to pass the bugger and he took off, couldn't get anywhere close keep up, that's what choked me.
Was running on fumes by the time I crossed the border again, but as soon as I put real go-go juice into my L, my tires were smokin' again (nasty habit). Thank you to the rest of the 49 states that have the common sence not to play with our natural resources.

2000 Lightning (Red)
SHM Chip and Mass Air
SHM Blower Pulley
378.2 @ 5100 HP
445.0 @ 3600 ft-lb (before pulley)
Kill Count = 26 suckers picking rubber off their teeth.
'99 Cobra - SHM engine, Vortech supercharger, and to many other mods that my wife don't know about.

Cat **** OMG!!!! thats a good one still LMAO. Ah thanks Moses I need a laugh. Sorry to hear about the poor gas, I think I would be adding that octane booster for down there, or just get a chip set for racing fuel only and just run that it would be expensive but just a thought.
If you used ARCO gas, it has Methanol, "NO BUENO" for the L. If you have the unfortunate requirement to re-visit us, use 76 gas. I think it is much better.
And a good fire or earthquate will fix the rest of Southern California

You are correct Moses, the gas here sucks!!!!
Ever since they added that MTNB or whatever the hell it is you can forget performance as well as mileage. Also, the stuff is seriously toxic and has poisoned the ground water here. 91 octane is the highest you can find here too. It's a shame.
BTW..does anyone know if adding octane boost really works? Would it be bad for the L?

I would like to know what octane boosters you guys suggest, to help make up for the horrible fuel down here.

Guys, I have been running Chevron 92 octane or union 76 92 octane and it works great. The bolt smokes the tires on command. Chevron sells octane boost at their stations just fill up 1/2 way pour in boost and fill up the other half ( i tried on my 911, did not do much ran good either way). I have tried unocal racing gas 100 octane 50-50 with 92 ocatne in the 911 and it ran much smoother with a crisper throttle response. Only down side, cost = $4.00 per gal..
