Thumbs up Team PSP hit's 12's

Hey guys, as most of all of you already know, we had a great weekend. My truck was running awesome.I did make a few mistakes that I normally don't do.I for some stupid reason arrived at the track with just about a full tank, as most of us know this is not good, considering fuel weighs around 7lbs.per gallon. We finally had a chance to make a shake down pass, and also weighed in. I discovered that I was weighing in at 4850 (210 driver). I could not believe that all this weight from the fuel was affecting me this much. So, I decided to do as Johnny and strip some weight. I removed the passanger seat along with the tailgate which brought me down to 4700 lbs., not exactly the weight I was looking for, but it would have to do.

Now to the times, first run of the day at 10:49 a.m. gave me a 13.068@104.33, not bad but a 60' foot of 1.94 tells me I am still not hooking well. Throughout the day the barometric pressure started at 29.32 and continued to drop to 29.14 by the end of the show around 3p.m. The best run of the day was when me and Jonny lined up.
For most of you that don't know, this track is a home track to me and Johnny. we are always putting on a show side by side no matter if it's a regular night or a shoot-out.They know us so well there that they usually make sure that me and him are lined up together. Back to the times.....

Johnny-- Spiro

R/T .665---- .830
60' 1.875--- 1.893
330 5.371-- 5.384

1/8 8.263----- 8.288
MPH 84.82---- 84.50
1000 10.779-- 10.807

1/4 12.915---- 12.938
MPH 105.52-- 105.88

This is the type of timeslips me and Johhny usually run together(as far as being close). We always go out wishing the best of luck to each other.I have enjoyed being able to compete against suck a good competitor, and will continue to enjoy it in the future.Yes, as Johnny says I do have a few more mode than him, but I also weighed in at exactly 200 lbs. more than him. And judging by my terrible 60' I am not yet taking advantage of the 3.73's.I was experiencing slight tire spin all day. Now, what kind of times will Spiro and JohnnyLightning run in better weather... stay tuned
Next time I won't run a near full tank
HighRisk,
It was a pleasure meeting you and your awesome machine. You can bet that we will take a trip up your way soon. I still can't believe you made the ride for a event that was a bomb. Not near the crowd they expected.Be cool

Good thing you're not bracket racing. With reaction times like those you wouldn't make the second round down here.
noelvm

You're 60' times seem really great to me, with stock rear the best I can do is about a 2.06.

Hey all, Sal here. I just got back from Delaware, thanks to Spiro and Jason for letting us stay at their pad. I had a great time, even though the event itself was pretty pathetic. I know Dave King did his best, but the overall turnout really ruined the event, in my opinion. But it was cool to see Johnny and Sue again, as well as metting John Ledley, Bob (High Risk), and hanging with Spiro, Jason and Chris (from NY). Racing action was good though, well, at least for the Lightnings, as the Mod Mustangs were really turning embarrasing times. Spiro ran from 12.93 to the 13.1 range, Chris ran in the 13.0-13.1 range, John Ledley was going 13.1-13.2, but having trouble hooking with my old DRs, Bob ran a best of 12.67, but lost in the semi's when Chris got him at the tree. Then it was Chris and Johnny for the final, which COULD have been a GREAT race, but Chris spun really bad and had a 13.46, and Johnny's truck was running so lean he had to let off from detonation at the 1000ft mark, and turned a 13.0x (the exact number eludes me). There were also two Amazon trucks there going 13.30s that got beat early on. Overall, everyones trucks were running impressive times for such poor weather conditions. I will admit though, that neither Spiro's or Johnny's trucks would have run 12s without the ice water in the intercoolers, as was apparent from how they ran when hot. After the event, I made a pass in my former 11 second-now converted back to stock 95, which turned a 15.30 with the bed loaded up ready for the drive home. Just about where it ran when new. It may be slower then the new trucks now, but I bet Spiro will think twice about trying to take out a first gen Lightning in the twisty turns

Sal:
Can you provide more details on running ice water through the cooler.
I have run 13.63 - when it was 55 degrees out, but was only able to run 13.93 in today's 93 degree heat, so any cool down advice you have would be appreciated. My truck is stock.

Just wanted to say hello to everyone from the MOD shootout. Had a really great time and hope we can all meet up again. Think next time I will also ice down my intercooler.

Spiro,

I have been watching all your progress and the PSP progress from the beginning with interest. From an older generation "dragger" and "wannabee" today I am impressed with your results and Sal's coaching.

Maybe someday I'll attend Cecil County just to watch all you guys!

I was a little disappointed in the turn out and that it was over hyped a "little". It was worth the drive to finally meet you guys. Dave King did work hard on this event. He does deserve some credit. Being on the forth weekend didn't help any.

How about a Norwalk shootout in late August or September? We could set it up bracket or heads-up. Personally I'm not a big fan of the Pro tree but lets put it up for a vote. Noralk is a first class race track. If we could get enough interested I would do the leg work to make it happen.

High Risk, where is Noralk?
Do you feel you are getting anything out of your torque converter now with the new tires?
Also, how much air are you running in the Goodyears?
Thanks, Jim

Jim,
Norwalk is about 40 miles south west of Cleveland just off the Ohio turnpike. Excellent track.
I switched back to the 26" tall tire at Cecil county my 60' were off due to lack of gear more then lack of traction. We changed the torque convertor last week from a 9" to a 10" still haven't had enough test time to come to a solid conclusion. The 28" tall tire help the NOS runs where I need less gear at the top end.

Noelvm,
I couldn.t agree with you any more, my r.t. sucks.I'll get that pro-tree soon enough

1FASTSVT,
It was fun meeting and hanging out with you.I think we all need to set a date for E-town for another meeting.

Dunbarton,
I have to agree with, I was also impressed with the times, considering the weather.Cecil county is awesome. You are always welcome to come hangout with us. You know if me and Johnny are, there will be a good show. I just need to improve on that pro-tree
