I have an open-end element air filter on my L so I use tape and plastic grocery bags to cover it up.

Next I go to a standard car wash that you would normally use and (I have to kill the engine, hopefully you won't have to) and don't spray by pulling the handle. When you put the money in it kind of leaks out pretty hard, this is all you'll need.

Also I've used some engine products that ****ed up hoses turned them pretty milky white.

I did mine at 5000 miles and the engine died 2 times just after, but never had a problem since. (Don't use the high press spray). I now do mine about every 2500 miles, really easy, just like changing you oil.

I use simple green to clean it, then finish 2000 to give it a shine. Looks better than When I got it from the dealership

I use a product very similar to Simple Green. It's called MAGnificent and can be purchased from an Auto Magic distributor. This stuff works great on the wheels too.
Normally I wipe the engine off with a rag every time I wash the truck-helps it to stay clean so it doesn't gunk up.

For belts and hoses, I've always just wiped them down with some of the tire shine stuff. Armor All tends to turn brownish in time.

Wink

armor all is great, except when dust/dirt comes in contact with it. I try to use the non sylicon base stuff, and I think finish 2000 is a non-sylicon base, because I never have dirt sticking on anything; but the wind never blows down here. That is what I use, and it works great for me...
