Thumbs down Gas Gauge Problem Just Got A Little More Serious

Where do I start....
Okay, so, to date. I took the truck in last week because the gas gauge was all loopy, they had it 4 days and I got it back Monday with a replaced fuel tank sender and a *No problem it's all better* SO, Tuesday the gauge breaks again. I take it back in Thursday like, wtf, are ya really gonna fix it this time? They said no problem...okay, so...I'm sittin at work la la la and I get a phone call from Wells...HEY I just saw your truck down on County Line Rd.
WHAT? What the hell is it doing down there. Hmmm... call the dealership, Just wonderin, why is my truck down on County Line 2 hours before I am supposed to come get it in rush hour traffic?
Well we don't know what is wrong with it. We never did know what was wrong with it.
Ummm Then why did you tell me that it was taken care of on Monday?
I don't know.
Lemme talk to Garret.
Ok.
This is Garret.
Hey Gar, Why is my truck hot rodding around on County Line?
Well it was either that or let it run for an hour in the parking lot.
???? An hour? So that guy is just gonna drive it around for an hour and put miles on it and then what?
Well if we can't figure out what is wrong we'll give it back.
Is the gauge registering?
No.

OKAY at this point I am wondering if I was out of line to tell them to bring my truck back to the damn dealership and park it and leave it alone. I'll be in for it after work. Regardless, that is what I did. I am mad for 2 reasons. One, they have had it since yesterday morning, why now during rush hour did they wait to take her out and Two, I don't like being left in the dark about what is going on. If you don't know say you don't know, but don't jerk me around for an excuse to goof around with my pick up.

Sorry about the long post but I am hella bent.

CA

I know what you mean....
You did the right thing!
I see NO reason to have to 'test' drive a vehicle for a fuel gauge problem! Do you think that Ford will ever step up to the plate and make these dumb dealerships do right by us, the CUSTOMER?

Sorry CA, it's not even my truck and it pi$$es me off....I am sitting here lookin at a wiring diagram and it shows the fuel level input going into a micro processor. "Provides circuitry to control all gauges as well as low fuel and check gauge warning indicators" as taken from the book concernig above mentioned micro processor.

Either it is bad, the sending unit is bad, or there is a simple wiring problem that can be traced out by doing a continuity check.

Test drive.....puhleeze.....

Hey Girl... I'll come help you kick their a**es! The thought of them driving it around is enough to make me nuts! I can't imagine how I would react if I were in your shoes.

Scream about it. Call Ford, call SVT, call anyone you can think of, there isn't an excuse for this. Let the damn thing run in the parking lot! Oh, maybe the tech thought he could run the gas out of it faster to see if the guage was working or not... wonder how he would do that? (insert sarcasm) Nail them on this one, there's no excuse for this, IMO.

I've taken ours in for the infamous front end clunk 2 times now and only authorized the service manager to do the test driving. I'm lucky in once sense, I work at this dealership and they KNOW how I feel about this truck. Front end still clunks, BTW.

Find a different dealership and be sure they are aware you aren't just a girl driving a cool truck.

Trace
Still clunking...

Thumbs down

Three letters: B.B.B. Report the problem to them and things will start happening. Works for me.

From my experience, the BBB is the biggest bunch of impotent people ever. They have absolutely no power, and how many people call the BBB to check on a company's record before doing business with them. I have tried to use them twice, and in both instances went away more frustrated. It's Ford's *** that needs to be kicked. I'm afraid I would have gone to jail as the aftermath if that had happened to me.

Talking

CA,
After I stopped laughing I really feel for you as this happened to my wifes 75 lincoln.
She would go somewhere and the car wouldn't start. She'd call the dealership, they'd tow it in and it would start right up, every time. After three times I was discussing this with the dealerships attorney and he offers to swap cars temporarily as they were the same. I guess he didn't believe me. Well he gives our car to his wife. Whammo, she calls from the mall. This @#%&# car you gave me won't start. Car get towed to dealership, GM tells tech, remove everything you have to strip to bare metal if necessary but find problem. Ultmately a wire had insulation scraped and was under the carpet and when car giggled a certain way it would ground out and shut the electric fuel pump down and car would not start. After they found the problem and fixed it, the car was fine.

Tell your dealership you want copies off all the paper work as you are going to want a new white baby under the lemon law as they can't seem to fix the truck.
