truck getting pretty warm at stop n go - should i add a meziere?

this 95 / 105 index temps are starting to get to the truck.

my trip to work is only 7 miles, but it's light to light and you hit almost every one of em every few blocks

if i get caught at about 15 to 20 lights i'm sitting about 230 on my temp gauge

not really sure what would be considered a "safe" temp

i do have a 170 stat, elec fan, stock radiator, stock water pump, afco double stack heat exchanger with fans

i know the elec pump is going to flow more at lower speeds, but i know wydopnthrtl says they may flow too much, i think thats what he says anyway

never had any problems on my other truck, but never had the pump on during the summer heat

Look at it this way, I have had my Meziere for over two years now and live in SoCal, stop and go capitol of the West coast and have yet to rise above normal on my temp guage.

I have the 170 stat and flex-a-lite fans. It may, or may not flow too much, but it definitely works in my case and I will NEVER put a belt driven pump back on my L. I would buy five more of these in the future instead. I am still waiting for it to fail me in any way first.

Everyone has their ideas and opinions, I just went with it as an experiment and couldn't be happier.

It is HOT here from June to October - I get stuck in stop & go for as long as 45 minutes on a routine basis.

My truck NEVER goes over 195* or so. I have a 160* thermostat, FAL-270 fan kit and that's all it takes to cool her down.

I think you have a problem with a part of your cooling system - either the fan isn't running fast enough, water leak, bad water pump impeller, low coolant, clogged radiator, etc.

If everything is good, I don't see how it could get to 230*.

IMHO, 230* is way too hot !!!

It really sounds like you e-fan isn't running. You should be able to sit and idle forever and not get to those temps.

I love my Meziere pump, but I don't think that's your problem.

230 is way to high, your motor will be toast soon at that temp...
something is wrong, you need to check your coolant system. something is not working.

I just blew the motor on my boat because the thermostat broke and the boat overheated, so it is not fun.

yeah

something isn't right.

What are you using for fans??

I would pull and change the thermostat anyway.

230 is WAY TOO HOT!!!!

Sure you could have a bad water pump, but that is doubtful. Fix the real problem, don't try and bandaid it. You have way too much money in the truck to cheap out on fixing a cooling problem. Goodluck, -Mat-

If you have a fan like the first pic below then that might be your problem. This fan moves a marginal amount of air compared to the fan in the second pic.

Check to see if your fan is blowing the correct way.

I live in the hottest place, just about ,it was 114 deg last tuesday stuck in traffic, stop and go. A/C on , i have a JDM electric fan, cobra water pump, with a very large aluminum pulley, 170 deg stat. My needle stayed just above the (TEMP)letters midway on factory guage. I thought i would have problems in the summer . With this pump set up my fan is on pretty much all the time,if i come to stop, it will turn on within 10 seconds, when i had the stock water pump, it took 3-4 min of sitting still before the fan turned on, so the cobra flows alot less water, plus the large pulley. I have a navigator pump waiting to be put on, and it supposed to flow the most, we'll see. I thought about the electric Mezz pump, but if that goes out your done, tow truck home. If the fan goes out you can let it cool down, then continue on as long as you moving you won't overheat. i would look at your radiator for plugged tubes
