DFW, Ennis and HALO
HALO is going to schedule a trip to Ennis for some fellowship with the DFW area Lightning owners. Looking at October 13th and 14th for the visit. Would you DFW dudes give me some feed back on the dates and let me know if this is in ya'lls range. We would drive up on Friday Night, meet at the track on Saturday and go home on Sunday.

That might work Andre.
Fun Ford Weekend is the 7-8th, I know that.
You might want to take a look at the M-plex website to see if the track will even be open the week after. A lot of times they close it for some serious prep due to the Fall Nationals which are held the last weekend in October up here.
I believe the website is www.texasmotorplex.com

Thank Wes, I will do just that. If they are we will move it to another open date.
WOOPS!
They are closed that weekend, Wes how about the 15th and 16th of September.

Sixpipes, Silver_2000, and I talked about this when we went bracket racing this weekend. Sounds good, but we want a reciprocal weekend in Houston so we can try out HRP. Motorplex schedule shows the last night of street Night is Friday September 22. The only other possibility is Fun Ford Weekend on Oct. 6-8.

FFW will be incredibly crowded, but if you can meet up with a group and pit together it can be fun. However, getting pit spots at Ennis is a joke at FFW. Seriously, I know its a huge pit area, but there will be all the vendors who get half of the pit area, and then close to 700 race cars. The Ennis event is the last one of the year and is nothing short of HUGE.
Plus, the only way to get any real runs in is to run brackets. You'll get 3 qualifying passes in on Sat, then at least one pass during elim. Same thing on Sun. So, 8 passes minimum for $35. Not bad, but its a long weekend...and a lot of sitting around and spectating. It all really depends on what you want to do. I know Andre was very frustrated at FFW at HRP this last May 1-2.
It would be more fun, IMHO, and relaxing to do it on another weekend. Sept. 15-16 is probably fine.

Hey yall, Just wanted to let you know that I was planning on having a Rally that weekend at the Fun Ford Event in Ennis. There is a car show out there that I'm sure alot of us will be in so you will have plenty of fans there. This may help pass the time between runs. I will be posting up more after the Texas Heatwave.
Speaking of the Heatwave are any of the ya'll going. It would be great to have you there.

Wes, you gave us a great tip on trying the bracket racing. Other than lots of time waiting to run, it was a blast, and the track was much better than it ever is on Street Nights. Looks like Sept. 16th is the final bracket day of the year.

Hey Moonshine,
Glad to hear the track prep was as good as I advertised it would be. I don't get out there much anymore, but every time I've been on Sat. the track is always in much better shape. I honestly think this is b/c of the "money classes" involved and the fact that there are substantially fewer vehicles running radial tires (which pull the VHT up off the track).
Hope to meet up with you guys down there sometime!!

Hey Andre,
I just thought of another idea.
Instead of Ennis (well, we can certainly meet up with Mumbly at FFW...that sounds cool, although I'll be in my LX racing in the True Street Shootout), why not consider Hallsville Raceway. It is located just east of Longview off of I-20.
It is an AWESOME track. It is an NHRA track and they prep it consistently throughout the evening or day...whenever you race. I have always gotten excellent times there. It's a smaller track, so there would probably be less of a turnout. I believe they do Friday evening and Sat. night racing.
For us Dallas area folks, its a good 2hr drive, but well worth it. If you've never raced there, you need to go. And in Sept./Oct. I will put money on the table that over 50% of us who show will run personal bests there. It's THAT good.
For you guys in Houston, its about the same drive. And this is a full NHRA certified 1/4 mile track.

Hall a$$ in Hallsville. Sounds cool. We need to talk it over with the club though. Sure would be a lot shorter drive than from here to Ennis.

Sure, guys. Ya'll talk it over. No real hurry. I just know its a good track, its a fast track and if its shorter for you guys, then that's a nice benefit. There are several hotels to stay at in Longview as well.
If you guys think its a decent plan and some more DFWers get involved, then the next step is to contact the track and find out when they race and try and set up a tentative date.

I like the Hallsville idea also. Smaller track more run time, can lay back and talk for a while. I will contact them and see if I can get a date close to what we have already picked so it doesn't interfer with FFW at Ennis. Will also get a list of hotels for the overnighters. GREAT! This should be fun. Hey! HALO, "A Road TRIP" is coming.
