Talking Moonshine, Sixpipes and Silver_2000 try Bracket Racing

We'll the 3 of us braved the Texas heat last Saturday to try our hand at Bracket racing at Ennis. Albert (A-Lightning) from Oklahoma showed up as well but didnt race...

Wes was right, the track was definitely in better shape with fewer street tires running on it.
We all ran the NO/E bracket and Moonshine and I were lucky enough to make it into the 2nd round. Where I redlighted.....

I didn’t get any group pictures but there are some photos and MPG's here http://63.68.139.101/svt/ennis%206-2...rplex_6-24.htm

Too bad we didnt end up running this guy ... ...
Do you think the crap stuck all over it would have hurt his ET's ?

In one of the mpg’s you can hear the announcer commenting that he hadn’t seen that many Lightning’s since Fun Ford Weekend……

It was a great learning experience and we all had fun. One more trip to the track after my filter shows up and I will likely wait for cooler weather before going back. We’ll have to invade an autocross….. To see what kind of impression 3 or more Lightning’s can make on an airstrip…. Sixpipes and Moonshine what do you think ??

Doug

Nice to meet you Albert (A-Lightning). I'll have to get up to Thunder Valley this fall when the weather cools down. BTW, the chip works a lot better when the wires are connected.

Doug, autocross is for sissies. Where do I sign up.

I used to do a bunch of autocrossing in college, but haven't run one in more years than I'd like to admit. Probably time to do it again, so I'll be the third sissy.

I'm glad the track was better prepared for you guys...so, what were the times this week? I know it the baro. press. was low and the humidity and temp were pretty high, but were the 60' times at least better than before?

Wes, despite the heat(90+) and humidity, Doug and I set new personal best times. Doug got a 13.79, I ran a 13.77, and Dennis ran 13.69. Given the weather, I was very pleased. All 4 of my runs were better than my previous best, and each successive run I got a lower R/T, lower E/T, and higher trap speed. I did not see a big improvement in 60' times for me (best 2.0X), but I was on the stock F1's.

Pisses me off - Even with Dennis' borrowed CompTa Drag Radials I couldnt do better than Moonshine........

I am very happy with the time. I am really looking forward to cooler weather and higher baro pressure.

The Hallsville idea sounds pretty good. I would love to race some of the speed demons from Houston.

I thought for sure the crapped up RT would get some comments but none yet .....

Doug

Thumbs up

Those are very good times guys considering the elements. Easy .2-.3 waiting with better air. Good job. I'm pleased to hear all of you set PB's. That's the only reason I ever go anymore...which is why you don't find me out there too often in 95^F, 60% hum., 29.50" baro pressure air.

If its 50^F at Hallsville when you race there, you'll run 13.4x or faster.
