Well I have to say I love the SVT Lightning first off to protect myself from flames, also Im a proud owner of a 99 Contour SVT. Everytime I see and SVT, I give them a wave because I consider SVTs as elite Fords, thus making their owners somewhat special. Tonight though, I was proved wrong. A friend of mine who has a very beautiful & fast modified Camaro Z28 (I dont like Camaros either) was led to race a 2000 SVT Lightning on an old country road by the owner of the Lightning. To make a long story short the Camaro barely beat the Lightning and as the race was getting to 100mph the Lightning owner slammed on his brakes and to the surprise of the Camaro owner, the end of the road was barricaded because of 4 foot flood waters that lie ahead. So the Camaro driver was unable to stop in time and went flying into the water and damaged his show quality car while the SVT owner (who was very aware of this hazard) returned to the cruising strip bragging about how he sent a Camaro into water. I feel this was a pretty low move in any car arena and can not express how upset I would have been if my lowly car ran into that water. So if any of you know a 2000 SVT Lightning owner in Moline, IL with the last name of Shannon, please express some notes of opinion on the situation. Just thought Id share my little info with the group. Take care all.

Not cool, whoever the "L" owner is.

As if street racing isn't dangerous enough ( Sorry but can't condone any street racers) you have idiots out there pulling dumb sh#*. If its any help, what goes round comes around, but I have to feel that the dumba$$ in the L is going to get monkeyed-uped big time.
Well, It wasn't me. The bad thing is I don't want my red 99 confused with this kid.
Truth is: no Angels in this story.

Tom T, Another thought...Maybe one should check out if story is true before spreading it all over, Maybe two sides to this story?
I posted an immediate reply to this post, Why didn't you include that?

Reality 1 : My intent was not to point fingers in any way shape or form. Just wanted some of the others here to see what is being said in other forums. Perhaps the information is pertinent, perhaps not. I've certainly read of much worse things on other boards, believe me. however, it is well written, and I don't think Tom (who I don't know) would make up such a story. Don't take it personal, the real culprit knows who he/she is. Just so it's all here, I've added
your response and his to yours.

I hope it wasn't red. Don't want to be mistaken for this guy. Bad Example, save it for the strip

Perhaps the "street racer" in the Camero who was supposedly "slightly ahead" should have been watching the road ahead since he was leading??? -- if any of this is true at all. Anyone that "races" on an unknown street is really asking for it. Save it for the track, the strip, or deserted highways IMHO.
