Status on engine replacement on 2000L
Hey everybody !
From a prior post I stated that my dealer decided to replace the engine on my 2000 Bolt
(about 3000 miles on it) due to piston slap. The "full" new engine assembly was ordered june 20th and finally came in yesterday 6/27.
It came in on a BIG wooden crate with the blower attached; engine date 6/22. This is a LARGE engine when fully detached from the cab. Took about 10 digital photos from different views, its downright impressive.
They cant begin to install till next monday or so. I really am impatient now.
Are any of you interested in seeing these pictures ?
And by the way the Eaton Supercharger plant called me today and said they would give me a tour of their plant friday IF some of the engineers could go for a ride in the Bolt. I said sure as moonshine YES!and possibly may be allowed to take some photos in non-restricted areas of the Blower parts and assembly. Pretty exciting for me.
Any of you interested in these photos if I can take them ?

I am very interested. Be sure and ask about blower upgrade-a-bility. Too bad about your engine woes, one more week and you will be all set!

Is your engine number matched? And is it a 2000 engine? If I had a 99 slap problem, I would wait until production of the 01 Lightnings and then start complaining about it...

What we'd really like to know is why so many intercoolers are failing and if they have identified the problem and if the intercoolers in the supply system now are cured of the problem so it will not happen again. We'd like their comments.

To Tundra:
I will ask the Eaton people about blower upgradability. It is a 2000 engine stamped all over with june 2000 dates BUT as I have stated in prior post the "REAL" date of heads,cam,crank,pistons etc is only known by the Windsor plant. I hope to get a phone number for an engineer at the Windsor plant to get to the bottom of this date thing.Tundra, had thought about waiting for the 2001 but my technician decided that now was the time to get the engine replaced.

Eaton does NOT make the intercooler but maby through them can find out.

This a great opportunity for you to get some really good inside info for us. Maybe you can turn on some charm and get some super secret info too! I'd love to see all of the digital pics. Good luck with the swap.

Yes I will turn on whatever charm is left in me (will also carry my Captain Video ring and Batman communications link watch to the Bat Cave).

Had 87 Turbo Coupe traded for
92 F150 XLT 302, Put K&N Filter, cat back and Chip on 92 still not enough.
Silver 2000 Lightning, 3.73 gears ( Expensive ), Superchip, Valentine 1, Snuglid, Bedrug and nickel tint.
Have Sals Chip and Filter on order, cant wait.

Thanks for the good words Gator; I really need them. For the last 1 1/2 weeks the dealer said as soon as the engine arrived the mechanic would be assigned to do the swap; they also knew I was off this week (preparing for new job)and next week is rough for me since thats when I start. Well when the engine finally came in tuesday they decided the technician was too far behind in other work to start on mine (probably for better paying non warranty work).Yes I was P*****.
Nothing I could do at this stage so held my temper in check and let it ride. I even considered letting the Bolt engine set there for awhile (they have to account for a 8-10k engine). So now they plan on starting the "TRANSPLANT" monday 7/3. one day for install and one day for debugging.

Thanks for the offer Silver and may need to take you up on the offer. So far have 10 pictures of the Bolt engine sitting on the wooden crate. And friday morning still scheduled to go to the Eaton Blower plant.
Hope to take some blower shots etc.

Well do my best to get ANY "scoop" info about our engines and blowers. I had wanted and arranged with my dealer to take pics of the engine install but that plan got wasted. But still have an opportunity with the Blower guys to get some inside info. Thanks for the reply Hwy_2L.
