Lightning rim problems
Has anyone had any problems with Brake Dust sticking and seeping into the clearcoat on there RIM's? I have had my truck for about 2 months and have had the wheels cleaned (w/ just soap and water) every week or so. After one month I noticed my rims where stained. I took it to the dealer, and they told me to Compound, polish, and wax them. I've never had to wax my rims before (I had a 98'SVT Contour)... Is this normal, or is the dealer giving me the run-around?
I have not had any problems keeping mine clean. Even after two weeks of build up, I can just wash with regular car cleaner ( I use Zaino) or even Windex.
I did do a Zaino job on them and they clean even easier.
Sounds sort of like a bit of dealer colon-blow if you ask me.

R81,
stop by your local fast food stop and pick up a few straws and tuck them in the glove box.
next time you talk to the dealer (or the local know-it-all), pull one out, hand it to them and say, "Here, this will help you concentrate your efforts when you attempt to blow smoke up....."
i use super clean on my wheels and tires. sure, i get brake dust but it doesn't seep into the clearcoat.
