Painted the rear window trim
Hey Guys,
I painted that damn fading plastic trim around the window. It should have come from the factory like that.
I don't know how to post so you will have to go to the zing address on my sig. to see it.(Sorry for the trouble)
Also, check out the police intercepter plate on the rear --- my cop friends hate it being on the truck.
One last thing, the Pro-m sure makes my truck run smoother, the truck should have also come with that.

That looks great!
I have been trying to get a body shop here in Tucson to paint my bed rails and tailgate cap the same fastest silver color as my L. I have tried three of the best in town, all three say it is difficult, it won't last more than a year, the paint won't stick to the pebbly surface, if you more than touch it it most likely will flake off....
What special prep did you take and/or what did the body shop do? Cost?
Did you have to remove the part or did you paint it in place?
Thanks...

Awsome man, totaly love it. Would like to know duribilty of it and how long it will last and how much it was to do(if possible)
Steveo
If your gona do metal and espesiacly engine parts i would get them powdercoated, or if you dont have the money use high temp engine paint a local paint shop will have it the and also use high temp clear coat, the best way to apply it is to spray it. But powdercoating is nicer, IMO. I thing you have the longest profile on the forum!

Looks very nice. I'd like to do the same on my L. I have a couple of question though. Does the texture show through the paint or did you "fill" it in? Also, does the trim piece come off or it part of the window?

Im pretty sure the housing is part of the rear window and it cannot be reomved seperatly.it is one piece. Its like bolted together. You need to unbolt to seperate glass

Hey Guys,
Thanks for the kind words about the truck. It's one of those hate it or love trucks, this paint job does not leave many without an opinion. As to the paint. You are right about not painting plastic. It does not wear well which is why the rear handle on the tail gate is not painted. The trim should hold up fine as it does not take much ware. The plastic was first sanded smooth to help with the primer bond. And the rear window has to come out to pull the trim. I spent $450 to do this but I believe this is high. I just could not live with that trim fading to light gray.
Thanks for the kind words,
Alvin
PS Thanks for the help post the pictures Sixpipes!
