sub woofer
i can't stand this factory radio any more, i need bass and accurate high's, i have an 18 inch kicker comp. sitting in the garage i thought about building a box and adding a few amps. what have all of ya'll done as far as a custom system? has anyone figured out how to hook up the factory cd changer to an after market radio without using an rf adapter

I recently installed a din and 1/2 kenwood head unit. It has a single disk, cassette player and changer controlls. I love it. It fills the hole in the dash perfectly.
I have MBQuart 3-ways (tweet,4" mid, and 6-1/2" driver) in the doors, and 6-1/2" seperates in the rear.
I installed 2 JL Audio 10" subs in a custom Lightning box (awsome inlayed a lightning emblem and covered with vynle) in the rear.
I will post pics when I get a chance to take some. I will tell you that it jams.

i haven't had a chance to pull off the door panels, what lies beneath? is it the dreaded 5x7's that ford is known to use.

Yes, the doors contain 5x7's, but its real easy to replace them with 5 1/4" 3 ways or components. I had my front speakers replaced by making a 5x7 plate that mounted the woofer and tweeter from a 5 1/4 component system. No holes had to be cut in the door panels, kick panels or A pillars to mount the tweeters.
