JLP Cold Air Users - In Here Please

I've just got my hands on a used JLP air box and snorkel set-up.
As you know, the lid of the box is perforated so it can still take in hot air from under the hood.

Has anybody changed the lid or sealed the top to make it a "true" cold air kit?
Any performance advantage to doing this? It must lower the IAT's right?
Would it affect the tune at all?

Help me out guys?

From: Colorado,
What most of us did was to run a air intake tube down low and in front of the intercooler.

I didn't think it really made a noticeable difference on my stock L and I definittley don't think it filters as well as stock.

But it sure sounded nice to have some exta whine with the cheese.

If your going to cover the the screen on top you might as well run the stock.
Yes it will let warm air in on a hot afternoon of stop light drags.

I ran mine a few months and then went back to stock.

If you did seal that JLP box, it would probably implode thanks to the few crappy tack welds. You would need to weld the box up tight.

Crappy tack welds, and the fact that the whole thing starts rusting around the one year mark. I'm totally dissatisfied with this product.

Yeah, a couple of the welds had gone

After taking lots of opinion (but mostly reading the page on Tim Skeltons site), I decided to make a solid lid out of some ally sheet. Easy peasy.

The lid probably does nothing but the stickers will be worth at least 2 tenths
