Post Edelbrock shocks - Update?

Someone was lending their Lightning to Edelbrock to have IAS shocks developed. I just wondered if there was an update on this or how it went?

Any details?

Thx a bunch!

That was me. I've got the hand-made prototypes on now. So far the feeling is that the truck is a bit more compliant, i.e. handles a bit more like a Bimmer and a bit less like a T-Rex. There is a very small amount of oscillation out of the rear axle on exceptional bumps, but this may disappear with the production units which are built to tighter specs. I believe I prefer the Edelbrock to stock, but I won't have a final report on this until I get the oems and production units in a first one, then the other, comparison environment.

As expected these shocks did not cure the concrete slab washboard truck-is-coming-apart oscillation, although they helped a little. The biggest help I've found with this is a hard tonneau.

The first production units should be shipped to me around the end of July and it is at that time that I plan to run the back to back tests. I'll pass along the results asap thereafter.

I've also asked for a second "seed" set of production shocks for additional evaluation on another L, but I haven't gotten a response on this yet.

Paul,

I can't believe they'll be worth the $600.00 + CDN. The improvement (or degradation) in my Denali certainly wasn't.

I guess it depends on what you are looking for.

Also, had my a$$ kicked all over Hwy 6 by a supercharged Mustang Cobra (last generation). Nice looking car except for the ricy Saleen spoiler. Anyway, we pulled into Tim Hortons (where else?) afterwards. Nice guy, lives 10 minutes from me in Belwood, home to only other Lightning in the area. He had his Mustang work done at SHM. Was very impressed with them, but he only dealt with Sean. Guess I've got to meet the big cheese himself. Thought you'd like to know.

Thanx a bunch for the update TV. Sounds like you are impressed with them and that is a good thing!

Tim.....

Yup....my friend had a supercharged stang and it was fast! Sounds like SH may be the guy to talk to if you can arrange it. I talked with one of the techs on the phone and he said that if I was coming out on a Saturday, then Sean would probably be in to chat for a bit. Might be interesting to get his opinion on a few things. Usually they aren't open but they said if they knew that I was coming they would make arrangements.

Thought that was a nice gesture on their part. Who knows if they will make good on it though. We shall see...

Paul
