Ball Joints gone!!!

I got an 04 Lightning, 25000 miles, and ive owned since new. I lowered at about 8000 miles with Eibach Pro Kit (RPM Outlet). Ive been hunting down a bad vibration and found both lower ball joints have about 3/16 play. Anyone have or know of a better than stock ball joint or should I just replace with stockers.

What he said. The stockers are junk compared to Moogs.

funny thing about Moogs, 1/2 the time they buy out fords inventory so it's a motorcraft part in a moog box.

(had this happen for my ranger and a mustang, not needed to yet on the lightning)

I love it when they list 6 part numbers that are ALL supposed to be for F150s and there is NO description of the difference between them

Definitely not true for Gen2s. The stock ball joints are not greaseable and of obviously lower quality than the referenced Moog parts. Additionally, the upper ball joints are not replaceable. Moog makes a replacement UCA with a replaceable ball joint.

The Web page that I reference has correct part #s for all of the ball joints and steering linkages.

Rockauto.com makes ordering this stuff easy. They have menu trees that you can use to drill right down to the correct parts, then just check the box.

And the factory sized UCA Prothane bushings fit the Moog uppers?

I'm guessing the lowering kit didn't have shims to keep the correct pinion angle of the driveshaft and ate up the U-joint.

you'll have to fix that BEFORE installing new parts, or you'll be back in the same position very soon.... constantly replacing U-joints.
