Anyone try the accel cop's yet? I found them online pretty cheap

They gotta be better than the GMS ones...........

 

I Googled it and found them at J.C. Whitney for 24.99 each. $200 a set is cheap if they work but they show an availibility as of 7/18.

 

and how do you gather or form that opinion?

 

Just ordered a set of 8 cop's from Speedycarparts.com there price shipped was $185.00. Even if there only as good as the stock coil's, it's a good price. However the info said they were stronger than stock. Hope this info helps all. I have 70,000 miles on most of my cop's and had to replace one around 65,000 miles. So I'm sure they have all lost a certain amount of there power. Artie

Did they have them in stock? Im thinkin of pullin the trigger on them.Like you sed,even if they are only equal to the stockers,thats a helluva price .I wonder if they will use the spring type plug connector to avoid the fitment issues on the granatellis

 

There site say's there instock. The information also is they are 15% more powerful than the stock units. Artie

 

Goes to show for only 200 dollars your getting a better set of cop's. I can only imagine what Fords mark-up is on the stockers.

 

At least as far as the customer service.........

 

My GMS COP's have worked great for me so far.

I wont ask if they gave you more power since its too hard to tell,but I think the best way to tell if they work better than the stockers is,"Were you or anyone else running the grantellis able to open up the spark plug gap"?.Im just curious on any results available before I replace my coils.

Well, I haven't done testing to tell when the spark will blow out with my engine. I had the plugs gapped at 0.030 when the new motor went in. I opened them up to 0.034 with the GMS COP's and it runs great with no spark blow out. I did have to shorten the cables on 7 of them though.

But what cables are you referring to,the stainless rod between the coil itself and plug? Ive read many post about having to shim them w/ a washer depending what plug you run,is that what you mean?

 

Yup. It's actually a stainless steel cable. I didn't shim them, I just cut them to shorten them. I guess I could have shimmed them, but some of them were really close to the fuel rail.
