Been looking into an aftermarket hood before I even started into Mods. In the Feb 2000 MM&FF where SHM's Lightning was featured, Cervini's and JDM Engineering had a prototype ram air kit, where the scoops sealed themselves into twin ram air boxes with K&N filters. The Flaps were vacuum operated to keep the rain out, and on the stock lightning, gave them 13.56@99.
SHM's got this kit in prototype stage right now, and they won't be releasing their version for a while yet. I'm a little impatient and wondering if anyones seen this system out on the markets with any other companies.
Thanks

Thumbs up

here's mine....
the guy who painted it said he had to mess w/ it for a while to get it to fit right but thought it was a very high quality hood.
They are delivered by freight truck and I had to go meet the driver in town b/c the truck couldn't go down our driveway, anyways that box/hood does not fit in the back of flaresides. the driver crammed it in the bed which caused some of the white gel coat to rub off (paint guy fixed that).

also....for those who have a tight schedule to get your hood painted: the hood has to be set out in the sun for 5 days to cure.

Brimstone,
how much did you pay for the paintjob (if you don't mind telling)?

RobG,

Would you mind giving me your e-mail address? I would like to ask you more about your custom screens for the hood. If you want you can send your address to icientyouth@cs.com.

Pony,

I had to pay $300 for the paint job, it was one of the worst experiences I ever had in having work done on my truck. The paint shop couldn't match the black and literally gave up, and passed it on. Now over a month later, it is ALMOST done.

brimstone,
silver is the hardest color to match and the guy who did mine did an awesome job. and only charged $180 to paint. didn't charge the install b/c he forgot to quote me for it. great guy who loves cars. by the looks of his place (at home business w/ small shop building) you would think that he would do a less than average paint job but he is actually quite good at it. he refuses to overcharge and take shortcuts when doing bodywork. most definitely going back to him to have other stuff painted including the 68 mustang.
sorry your experience has been bad. are the people who painted your hood the same as who you ordered from or did you bring it to them?

p68, do you have any more close ups?
I'd like to photo shop graft it on my truck (Silver 2000 L) to see what it would look like.
It looks good on your truck...

Cervinis said that they didn't have the hood in stock(translation: we'll have to make some more).

Should take about two weeks to recieve.

Will post pictures pre and post paint for anyone who's interested.
