Speedin' ticket hearing goes poorly
Well, I had my "hearing" for my 75 in a 45 yesterday...Not good. I plead my case being as humble and respectful as possible, told the judge of the tailgater and of my hopes of joing the ranks of lawenforcement in the up coming yr. He listened and seemed to pay close attention and I did I pretty damn good job for not being a lawyer. He commeneded me on how well spoken I was and wished me luck in my future career. He then preceded to give me a verbal lashing on "road rage" and I was obviously suffering from it when I decieded to "leave the Blazer in your dust."(his words not mine) He then told me how the PA State Police frown on poor driving records and that this ticket could "jeopardize" my making the next cadet class.
I was outraged! I wanted to tell him to take his little gavel and turn that sombitch side ways and stick straight up his candy a$$! "Road rage"??? I have a Sig 40 cal in my truck if he wanted to see "road rage" I could have damn sure should those idiots in the Blazer "road rage"!!! But I refrained. He told me to "Be more careful, and try and obey the traffic laws." and dismissed me. But before I left I told him I would not be driving through his little township anymore being they coddle the truely wrong and combative people and fine those wishing to avoid conflict. He started to say something in retort but I just left him hanging.
So much for "fighting" the ticket, off to AAA for my test!

It's a good thing you left when you did. The judge was probably P!$$ed about your coment and wanted to taunt you into saying something so that he could hit you with contempt of court. I had a judge do that to me one time after he had to dismiss a speeding ticket on a technicality. He called me every name in the book. I just smiled at him and said thank you. Later the cop even said that was just plain wrong.
Well geez...
I'm just glad I don't live there...Sorry to hear about all the trouble, but that reminds me...hafta get that notarized statement into the court for my dimissal...
Try not to shoot anyone...

A guy I worked with the got a judged riled up and threatened a contempt of court thing on him, in a civil case (you can't do that, its a civil case). So this guy told him so and sure enough the judge threw him in jail. A nice lady asks him to give his finger prints and he politley tells her to get 8 of her biggest guards to help her. She's asks why and he says his rights are being violated. Then he asks fo his one phone call. He called the ACLU and ten minutes later he was back in the court room watching the same judge in another traffic case. He never told me what happened when the judge realized whats up.
Man, if you got 'outraged' over that, you don't belong behind a badge and a gun.
Better re-think your career plans and try obeying the law and see which of the three reasons for being a cop you's fall into (see the thread on 'radar dectors' - I bet you're a #3).
In MI, you'd have received a 6-point wreckless driving ticket which would have earned you 'high-risk' rating on your insurance.

Y2K and Skydive,
Thanx for your concern and your quick judgment of my mental state. You two should be commended for your quick psychological profiling of me! Get a clue. DO NOT JUDGE OTHERS LEAST YOU BE JUDGED. Every heard that?
I just went to the hearing in hopes of leniency,I knew going in I was in the wrong and I knew the townships storied history w/ it's "fullist extent of the law mentality",I was not aware that it treated everyone who walked into the magistrate as a child to be scolded via what was technically "verbal abuse".
As for my reasons for wanting to be a cop: It's none of your damn buisness.
The radar dector thread: Didn't read it,ain't gonna.
Re-thinking my career plans: NO WAY! Not after spending 10's of thousands of dollars for my education.See now-a-days you need to be college educated to be a police officer.
And the MI "reckless driving" piece of info: Last I checked that was at the discretion of the officer as to what he wrote you up for.
Thanx again for the shots at me I'm glad you got personal on a message board,Drive through to the second window and have a nice day

"DO NOT JUDGE OTHERS LEAST YOU BE JUDGED." Kinda like you did that judge and his whole town? I think you should shelve your plans to be a police officer. I hear that judge is retiring - and I think you could fill his shoes perfectly..........
I expected to hear from you on this Mswain, glad you could make it
As for me judging the town,I live right on it's border,I and a populous of 30,000 or so that live there have judge it to be quite the "holier than thou" type town.I'm going to go door to door to get them all to view there points on this board in the next few days.
Thanx for your concern for my career plans and I'll be sure to ask your permisson in all my future endeavors

No offense intended, Hitman, but you have to be kidding. You must be leading a sheltered life to think you could walk into that judge's courtroom (or any other courtroom for that matter)and expect both leniency and no scolding from the judge. And your follow-up comments are just a bit scary for someone who wants to wear a badge and make critical decisions which can effect peoples lives.
And yes, by all means feel free to call on me anytime for advise on your career planning, I'm sure I can do better job than your last career planner, Darth Vadar............

Mswain,
I'm not really offended(especially by someone who doesn't know me),but I believe you mis-read my original post.
I am not a combative person, nor violent. That is why I thought the "road rage" lip thrashing was uncalled for.I did not expect leniency from this municaplity, but at the behest of others(many board menbers included) I figured what the heck.I didn't mind the fine, I only wanted the points lessoned to 3. I did not expect to be coddled but nor did I expect to be chewed a new a$$hole for what was at least a 15 minute tirade.
Again I must thank you for taking such great intrest in my life,it truely warms my soul
I have a date tonite, should I take her to dinner and a movie or dinner and dancing ? It's our 4th date if that has any bearing.

P.S.I love Darth Vadar! Although I must admit Darth Maul kicks mucho behind as well.

Fourth date? Hell, straight to the alter.....I hope you realize I've just been kidding with you, I can't help myself it's in my basic nature to poke fun whenever possible. Although on the subject of law enforcement I try to be as serious as I can. Good luck with your career, where ever it takes you. Law enforcement was a good career move for me, providing me with many years filled with memories, some good, some not. The retirement money pays for my toys, and the training supplied the foundation upon which I have bult a pretty good security business. Good Luck, and dinner/dancing always works for me.....................girls are suckers for that stuff.....Now, duck and cover before CA finds out I said that.......
Mswain,
I went w/ the dinner and dancing(I didn't get to read your post until today, but it worked like a charm
).I understand your view on law enforcement and appreciate it greatly(seriously I do),I am the same way.
I actually hope to use my police career as a stepping stone into one of the many "alphabet soup" agencies here in our great country. To use a quote from Darth Vadar,"it is my destiny". My family is well represented in many of the "soups" and I have felt compelled to pursue a similar path since I was a kid, and God willing it will happen.
So how goes the security buisness??? Ever heard of Richard Marcinko? Just curious,
Hitman
P.S. Somehow I knew you were messin w/ me,that's way a laced my messages w/ sarcasm and humor! But you can't ever be to sure.

Believe or not, I have two books autographed by Richard Marcinko. Love to read of his exploits. I met him briefly a few years a go, he is interesting to say the least....to quote the rogue warrior, "doom on you".
e-mail me some time, mswaim@thegrid.net and I'll tell you about some other very interesting members of the security world I have had the good fortune of meeting. Good luck with the fifth date..........
