Talking Just got back from the track!

Hey I finally got some times! I could have run all day long (atleast 20), but I only went 6 times due to the fact that I borrowed a helmet from a guy I just met. I went 6-0!

First off let me say I slept at the line, forgot to go on amber, and had major traction problems. I got into the 13s once, slippery track. Beat a Corvette by .001 and .34 mph.

Well here goes:

Best ET
Reaction: 1.142
60': 2.228
330': 5.935
ET @ 594': 8.439
1/8 ET: 8.994@81.220 mph
1/4 ET: 13.896@99.13

My best reaction time was a .738 another at .798, one at 1.2, 2 at 1.1, and one a .98, thats something I have to work on. I was too scared of red-lighting. I figure if I get a good 60' and good reaction time, I think I am looking at 13.6's @ 100. There was a 94 cobra that was running low 14s wich was where I was at for the other 5 runs, and I wanted to run him but he didn't want none of this.

There were 2 Syclones there, running low 13s, and I ran into a couple of guys I street raced the past couple of weeks, and one last winter. Fun!

Forgot to add some important info: ran on street tires w/ 16.7k miles, half tank of gas 90 octane and some octance boost, nothing in the bed of the truck for weight (regret that). Ofcourse the tonneau cover stayed on. All Stock

Hey Super Chicken, I noticed you've got a GTP, is it a coup or 4 door? I ask because I have been nagging my mom to go get one but she doesn't like 4 doors. We saw a 2 door today so now she's go her ears open. Hav eyou taken it to the track?

BTW, what are your times in the Lightning? This is fun, I finally have something to guage my truck against everyone else's.

While I also believe you may hit high-13.6x with some practice on 60' times, please realize that Reaction Time has absolutely _nothing_ to do with ET. Whether you cut a perfect .500 or a 2.000 R/T...it has no affect on the timing lights and overall ETs.

Just in case you didn't realize this. In your 1st post, it sounds like you believe helping R/Ts will help your ET.

Good luck!!

I agree with Wes. Practice the launch for the purpose of getting that beast down the line, and don't worry just yet about reaction times. But, what the heck, I did the same thing the first few trips to the track...Yours is still a good time, and they will only get better. Good Luck.

Tundra We have a 2dr my wife won't drive a 4dr she it looks like an old ladys car. But if that what she want thats what she gets. I just wish I could have found a GTX because that little 6banger hauls some butt. Haven't ran it my wife doesn't understand!!!!!! I hope she doesn't read these post and finds out that I race the L. She just thinks I play golf on Saturday morning even when I leave the clubs at home and the day I don't they slow me down. I was a cop in Sitka for about 8 year 70-78 right after I got back from Nam

You mean you weren't the cop? LOL. I have never been there, not much incentive to go.

Wes, yeah I guess you are right, I just looked more into my times and it shows who got to the finish line first, and it was the Vette, he had the better reaction time, but I had the better ET. RT is something I definatley must work on.

The track just started advertising on the hip-hop radio station up here, trying to start some friendly competition between people. I hope they get the Police Department involved to race against everyone. I would really love to show a cop my lights! The track is a real deterent to street racing. Especially after I learned the consequences of getting caught, 20 pts & $600. Allowed 12 pts max in two year period, 18 in three. $25 for test & tune, not bad, no tickets, guarranteed.

Tundra: You must be absolutely roasting the tires off the line. My truck spins them pretty good off the line, and in the first second shift, and I run 2.1xx 60 foots. Definetly try working on the launch. You might just need to roll on it, and stomp it when you get to 15 MPH or so.

Tundra: Just as a side note. We have 2 cop cars that run at our 1/8th mile track regularly. They run mid 11s in the 1/8th mile.... BIG GRIN :-).... you know what that means LOL

*MOST* cop cars here in ohio are slow... but you can't outrun the radio.

I did get the privelage about 8 years ago of being chased down by a 460 interceptor motor in a crown vic.

I was doing 120 plus, and he caught me rather quickly.. he was cool... only wrote me up for 80. )

But back to the point, I know alot of the local cops around here only have 302s, no mods, nothing special, just your garden variety 302 with 220 horses.

Just my $.02

Brad

Injection is nice, but I'd rather be blown. 99 Lightning, the best of both worlds!
