Header Bolts loose????

I took my L out for the first time since I got all that work done to it about 4 weeks ago and when I got home, I checked out everything to make sure nothing was loose or leaking, burning, or broke etc.... The bolts on the headers were loose. I got about 1 turn out of each bolt on average. I called the guy who installed them and he told me its due to the bolts, headers and paper gasket that they supplied. He told me I have to tighten the bolts every time I drive the truck as is goes through heat cycles, or it will blow a gasket very easily due to the fact that they are crap paper gaskets. I had a mustang with headers on it and never had this problem. They were good from the time I got them installed to when I sold the car. Any idea how long I am going to have to be doing this. Those bolts and very hard to get to. 10 mm ratchet wrench works the best.

I've used these bolts on every auto I ever put headers on. They will not back out or come loose. They rock. http://www.go-breslin.com/text.html

I will have to look into that thanks. I am not looking forward to changing them but I might be better off. I would like to find some with torque heads so I can really bury them.

These look like something I'm definately going to look into myself.

? on them though. Did you use anit-seize and reduce the torque to 26 ft# & 72in# or just go without it and go 30ft# & 72in# ?

I'll be installing some long tubes in a week myself.

I too have the Breslins and chewed up threads on my heads. I since had to chase all the threads on my heads. I took them all out and now use allen head bolts with stainless lock washers. The ends of the breslins had alluminum pieces imbedded in them from my heads and some were twisted too. Ill take some pics for you this weekend.

I have those on my headers and they work great. Zippo problems here.

No. I did not use any anit-seize on the bolts.

I used the Stage 8 fasteners with the c-clips. Only about $40 from Jegs. Havent had any problems and they went together fairly easy.
