Cool Factory Hot Rods

rec'd new Truck Trends yesterday, and the cover story was Factory Hot Rod Trucks available with full warranty.

a toyota V-8 (stock) truck with TRD offroad stuff

a dodge durango r/t 5.9L v-8 (stock) with ground effects

a chevy v-6 blazer (stock) with ground effects

and the "L" killer, a Sierra HT (hot truck)
4800 V-6 motor only, shortbed sports truck, with color co-ordinated steering wheel to match hot/yellow/green/blue paint scheme.

Please top off your bottles, i don't want to see any of you listed on some "kill section" on the web.

I guess they said nothing about the Lightning? Maybe my 7 year 100,000 mile warranty doesn't count. They should have titled it Factory Hot Rod Trucks available with full warranty (except ford).

tvw,

Numbers: all SLOW

MRBBQMAN,

Regarding the Sierra HT, the 4800 is a V8 not a V6.

Beginning to shake. I was really disappointed that the L didn't come with a neon steering wheel. This crappy black leather one is for the birds.

This is a joke, right? The listed trucks are hopeless slugs, and as a group post no competition for the mighty Lightning. In a race (of any type) it would be nothing but rapidly shrinking tail lights, tire smoke, and screaming blower whine for any of them (at best). The stoutest of the bunch (the R/T) is a good second or two slower than a stock Gen 2 Lightning. I realize that this is going to set off a firestorm from the R/T gang (check out all of the threads on the NLOC board), but we could frankly use the entertainment.

If you want the "HT" series with the yellow steering wheel, you get the 4800. these were not standard paint colors. it's nice to see the general caveing in to their customers demands, and offering some competition.

what04, do you have the article. i thought it said V-6 and maybe i was mistaken about the displacement (4300-4800?)

I saw an R/T Durango, he wanted to run, why certainly. What a terd. He got b&^%h-slapped into humiliation (by his obvious soccer mom) wife) after I kicked his Mopar-lovin-keister the curb. Mrs. Speedin Bob laughed except when I said "Looky" and pointed to the boost guage at WOT. Got her trained good.

Holy Smoke, I better get that 4.10 and chip installed in a hurry, before one of those Blazers comes looking for me.

Wink

Sorry bout the v6/v8 thing, and i hope no one has been given a false sense of hope in defeating one of the "Hot Trucks", because of my shoddy reporting

Note that the R/T Durango is nothing more than a lowered 5.9L Durango with 17" wheels and ground effects. No performance enhancements at all.

Love that post Speedin Bob.
