Considering an L, What to Expect?
Considering an L, What to Expect?
Alright, I'm not sure if this kind of post is necessarily welcome here but oh well...
Some history on my situation:
I am on my second F-150 now, and have been a memeber here for some time now. First F-150 was a 99 4x4 5.4 Lariat Supercab. I loved that truck and honestly I probably should have kept it. I then went to a 4.6 Mustang GT in 01. That car was lots of fun, but I missed having a big truck. I couldn't have hopped a curb or pulled a trailer to save my life! It drove and rode terrible, but got decent fuel mileage. After a few months though, I decided I really needed a truck again. I haul dirt bikes and pull trailers occasionall, and like the idea of being bigger and taller than most other motorists. I traded the car on an 02 Supercrew Lariat FX4, which I currently have. This truck has been good to me, but in all honesty is a gutless turd that struggles to move out of its own way. I miss the days of being loud and fast in the car, and am considering doing the swap again, but this time to an L. It seems to make sense to me. I've never driven one, nor ridden in one, but I like the idea of being able to haul some stuff here and there, while still being able to haul *** as well! The idea is still just an idea and may not work out if I have to shell out too much money to get into one. I'm about to have my truck paid off, and I'd like to buy the prospective L without getting another loan.
I am just starting to look, but am wondering about the avaialibility of a clean, used L that hasn't been severely abused. I'd like to spend no more than what my current truck is worth (somewhere around $17-18k). What do these things go for, and would it be hard to find an all-stock, clean, fairly low mileage L for $18 grand?
Thanks for any insight, as I don't know much as far as these hot-rod trucks go, and am just feeling out the idea of one.
thanks
Brian

You should be able to find what you want in your price range. Back in '04 I sold my '99 L with 42k miles on it (not a scratch on it, and interior was in great shape... no stains, rips, anything) for $16.6k.
If you're willing to get a '99-00 model, you should be able to find something very nice and reliable for $17-18k.
