Best year for Gen II lightning?

I'm currently looking for a lightning and was wondering what's the best model year to buy from the 1999-2004 GEN. II's? Also what are some good mods to start with on these trucks? I'll be using it as a street/strip truck. Thanks...

03/04. They have all the 01 upgrades and most importantly the 8 threaded heads so spark plugs exiting your engine won't be a problem.

'03 and '04s are great except for the "butt in the air" stance which can be fixed pretty easily.

Best Lightning

'03 or '04 like was already stated. But Fast Gator is right, if you can pick one up that's heavily modded for a good price, jump on it like a pretty chickita !!!

X2... Hell, I paid 22K for mine and I wish, time a on my side, I would have bought Rob's.even though I don't like black in West Texas. I don't believe in bad luck., like some others do... I did'nt come out too bad though. I have an 02 and the 1st owner thrashed the engine and now I've have an 04 Ford replacement with the extra threads on the plugs!...less than 20k on the engine.
