Airaid with S&B Powerstack filter installed....
Gentlemen (and Ladies),
As mentioned in previous posts, I have finally installed an Autophysics filter in my Airaid system. I chose the 9" X 3.5" as it is the same size as the K&N provided in the Airaid kit. A 10" X 3.5" would fit and possibly an 11" X 3.5" with a little padding.
Here are my preliminary observations. Please keep in mind I only used the Airaid with the K&N for three days with many WOT blasts prior to swapping in a Powerstack.
1. Little more "howling gulp" noise when standing on the loud pedal. The Eaton screams "FEED ME SEYMORE!"
2. Boost is basically the same. About 1 lbs. improvement over stock but I am still using the stock guage.
3. Slightly more "snap" in throttle response.
4. Red looks awesome on a red truck. nice blend. Pics to follow.
5. When challenging potential cadavers, gets their attention quicker.
Yet to test:
1. Long High speed run with both filters.
2. Test and tune both filter configurations at the strip.
Tips and thoughts:
I plan on using black RTV and "sealing up the Airaid. Probably won't make much difference but what the heck.
LOVE THAT HOWL!!!!

Thanx for the good news Bob, I can't wait to get mine. Thank you Fordsales (Jim) for your time and effort in putting together the group purchase for these filters, I am sure they will be worth it. BTW, I got to thinking about one more way we can improve the performance of our intake systems. For those of us with Airaid boxes, how about cutting a round hole in the bottom of the box and running a cold air flexible air-intake tube up to the grill? If it smells like ram-air... I spoke to Mike Troyer today, as I was ordering my Superchip CUX2R2 program, and he told me that the Lightnings really benefit from the higher RPM programs when they have lots of air coming in. Also, as a final note, I am really glad I got the Airaid box, as it seems to keep the heat from the engine compartment out of the air intake area, as well as all the dust kicked up by the radiator fan.
2000 on order,
Pics to follow. My "L" was too dirty to warrant pictures and the weather has been less than favorable to washing.
Back2,
Unfortuantely, I had my filter en route when the group buy was being put together.
My "Honey-do" list is rather extensive this weekend (except for attending the 500) but I will have a gander at the possibility of a makeshift ram-air set up as you mentioned.
Using the RTV would further prevent dest from entering the box.

Installed S&B Big Mouth filter in the Airaid last night.
Didn't get to test much as it was raining.
Based on todays drive to work I got the following impressions:
1. More blower noise, sweet music.
2. Didn't notice a big increase in boost,
but it did seem to get there quicker.
Using stock gauge so who knows.
3. Slightly more response to the throttle.
4. If nothing else it looks sweet installed.
Again, just MHO.
