Got the headers back from Jet-Hot today...

Well, I waited all day and the FedEx man finally brought my headers at 4:00PM. I had sent my JDM/Kook Long Tubes off to Jet-Hot to get coated because first the coating makes the metal fatigue less and last longer. Second, because I wanted to reduce the temps under the hood a little. Jet-Hot took quite a bit longer than I expected. I was told that they had a really fast turn-around time, but in my case this turned out not to be the case. It took 2 1/2 weeks for them to finish them and get them back to me once they received them...

I must also say that they have the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I called them numerous times inquiring about my headers and no one could tell me what the status was. I would call their main office and get transferred to the Mississippi office. The lady at the MS office was completely worthless. She actually told me that she had no idea where my headers were, when they would be done, or if they had even been shipped. NOTHING!!! After 3 different calls with the same result, I finally got ahold of someone I can only assume was management and he told me that he would contact the MS office and call me back with the status of my order. He didn't call me back. I had to call them again and finally they told me that my headers had been shipped. I asked if they could email me a tracking number so I could know when to expect them and they said they would. No email was ever sent. I had to call back again and they gave me the tracking number. I must have called them about 10 times and the last call was the only one that was really worth anything.

As for the finished product.... I have to say that so far it seems to be top-notch. Upon opening the box I looked them over to make sure there were no scratches or chips and everything looked good. I wrapped them with terry-towels and duct tape to ensure they wouldn't get scratched during installation. That worked great. I must have banged these things about 30 times with either a wrench or a socket while I was installing all the manifold studs and it didn't even leave a mark. Seems like some pretty durable stuff.

I had to go with the Jet-Hot 2000 because the Sterling is only rated to 1300 degrees and I know my exhaust gets hotter than that. The 2000 is good up to 2400 degrees, so I think I'm good.

All and all I'm satisfied with the finished product, but the customer service definitely left a lot to be desired. Here are a few pics....

They also coat the inside of the headers...

This is the exhaust cap I got from ChrisNelson to cover the hole left when deleting the EGR. I was referred to him by Fade 2 Black. It was really tight going on and didn't screw all the way down, but I checked for leaks after the installation and there were none.

These are the collector gaskets I used. The crappy ones that came with the headers blew out so I got some Percy's Soft Aluminum ones from Auto Zone...

And here is what they looked like once they were installed. I have to say that I like the way they look. The marks on them are not scratches, it's from have anti-sieze on my fingers.

HI!... Scrap those PERCY colector gaskets. There CRAP!!!!!! I went through like 5 sets until I wised up and threw them in the garbage. Now I just use MR GASKET collector gaskets. Never had a blow out in 4 years and they take the exhaust heat 10 times better than those soft aluminum PERCY ones.

I had a local guy here in town do my headers. I went with the silver finish, inside and out. It was like $200(CAN). Had them back in 3 days.

Both the silver finish and the black look good.

But I would have removed EGR fitting and welded a plate over the hole.
Thats what I intend to do with mine this week as there are on the shop floor.

Collector Gaskets.

I used copper composite ones and have no problems.

Collector Bolts.

Stainless Steel 10mm hex head key bolts with Stainless Nuts & Anti-Seaze.
Easy to remove.

Question, would the headers be more prone to leaks with the coating on the flange mating surface where they bolt to the head?
