Do a search for the info I seem to remember someone doing a write up on it and I think it said something about having to warm up the lens to seperat the glue. There is a guy on here called elf that has done it!! Artie

i used a hair drier on high and a flat head screw driver... the part that is on the side of the bed slides into the back half so you cant really pry that up....

the back half of it drop in. so pry around there... and uses clear silicone adhisive from any autoparts store to glue back together

Oven on a baking rack at 200^F for 10-12 minutes. This really loosens the adhesive up nicely. Use a plastic screwdriver to pry them open so that you don't gouge the plastic. Also, use Mechanix gloves as the lenses will obviously be too hot to handle safely without.

I opened mine up and painted the "chrome" portion to match my DSG truck. I think it looks very nice, and was well worth the time and effort.

I used a clear Plumbers adhesive I found at Home Depot/Lowe's. You need something that will be water resistant.

Good luck.

The plastic has to be able to with stand 150 degrees - Road temp down here is 120 - 140 easy in the summer

Sounds like you got it too close to the element that was on high preheating the oven

might have... the oven looked a little small for the tai light... i suggest just using a heat gun on low or a hair drier on high

I have to use a heat gun on them after getting the pieces apart in order to loosen up all the factory adhesive. A heat gun would work, but keeping the temp constant may be an issue as you work your way around the lense. You can also melt the plastic with a heat gun.

I've done no less than 5 sets of these, and it is a time-consuming process no doubt to make it look good and get them all sealed up again... without any noticeable marring of the edges of the plastic.
