Post Please Analyze 1st Run and Advise

OK folks, ya'll all laugh at once and then tell this old circle track driver what improvements I need to make. I have been reading about you guy's and gal's making your runs in such and such times so I had to give it a go. Of course there are no official strips or timing devices around here so I had to improvise the best I could. A hand held stop watch indicated I ran a 14.1 reaching 103 mph. I had the OD off, was on a black top surface, and the outside temp was 96 degrees. What I noticed was that I got no tire spin at all. All I have done to the truck is flowmaster mufflers and replaced the stock filter with the K&N version. I have a chip that is from Street & Performance but have not installed it yet, cause after reading ya'll's info, I want to get one of Sal's when he gets caught up on his orders. So what do you experts think and thanks for any advice you might be willing to give me. And when I asked my SVT dealer's mechanic could he put the truck on the computer to make sure the programing was at optimum, and if not change it, he replied that could not be done.

Thanks for the help and keep on posting, I will catch up one day.

The first qustion I would ask is how many miles are on your truck? this seems to be a big factor in how they run.

From what I understand the differnt modes are only in the 2000's, if you havce a 99, the mechanic was right. On the rest FMOS is right time to find a dragstrip to get accurate data.

I'd say they your measurements are pretty darn accurate. I just did my first couple of G-Tech Pro measurements today.

Interestingly, I ran one before going to the dealership and three after the visit.

My times: Before - 14.18 @ 103.3 mph
After - 14.13 @ 103.4 mph (best)

What did I go to see the dealer for? Well....first to get the stereo head unit changed to a AM/FM w/ CD and controls. Second for its first oil change on the new engine (put in Red Line) with approx 1900 miles on it.

And third (drum roll please) - to have the tech see if the computer parameters could be changed. He swore up and down that the computer would be set for premium. Lo and behold, for the variable input for fuel, it was set at regular. Duh..... Changed it to premium, but as you can see by the times, it didn't seem to change much. He was hesitant to get into the other parameters however.

I am getting big wheel spin at the line however. My launch is to just hammer to the floor. Spins for about 15 feet. Big piles of rubber dust at the start. Caution, you can't neccessarily hear the spin taking place.

I hate that damned "Clear" button!

Really all you can tell from your measurements is that your truck is right in the ballpark of where it should be. The way the track produces times and speeds is actually somewhat different than using a stopwatch and reading the speedo, so there is really no way to compare the two.

If you made changes to your truck and measured the performance the exact same way, that would probably be informative. But without numbers like the 60' time, ET and mph at the intermediate stages, etc, you can't really compare things.

Good thing we don't have a member named grin... well never mind...

Just to let you know, Sal is backed up onthe filter units only....

He can get you the chip fairly quickly...

He may have trouble with a flip chip right now, but can get you a single program chip...

Can anyone (Sal?) confirm?
