Damn Fords ... Exhaust Manifold bolt is broken
where the thing bolts up to the head ... Total
tear down to fix it ...
Might as well put headers on there while I'm at it, huh?
They say they will have to send the head out to get it drilled out
too if it doesn't come out with an extractor.
Reason they broke? Too much engine torque ... LOL

900.00 I work at a ford dealer for over 14 years as a shopforeman
and one of my techs just replaced 2 broken and the other good
studs on the rightside of a f150 in 2 hours I see this happen everyday
up here in the snow and salt area remember the studs are not very tight in the head and it most likely rotted off a good drill and easy out stay away from heat if possible and it will come out remove the inner plastic fender
and engine mount bolt jack engine up this really helps to get the room needed to drill

Before I dropped 900.00 in labor, I'd be dropping that cash into a set of ported heads, I mean if your going to pull the heads drop on some HP, once the heads are pulled pay a few hundred in labor to drill the exhaust bolt and sell the heads to help offset the cost.

Sounds like the head gasget is leaking had the same problem on my 01 but they fixed it when they replaced the heads after spitting out 3 plugs 2 on one bank and 1 on the other. Look at the back corner of the head and see if you find a trail of oil running down the block. Thats were mine was leaking from. Artie
