Driver Seat

Got a question, has anyone had any problems with the driver seat cushion kind of rolling off of the seat frame and then the frame digs in their leg? When I bought my truck I guess it's from sliding out of the truck but the frame is making a mark on the suede where you sit in the seat. I know I had a dodge neon one time and that seat done the same thing but I never fixed it. Now that I have the truck I really don't want it wearing a hole in the seat. Anyone got any input?

Mine is doing the same thing! It's really pissing me off to! I thought about buying a new one, but just assumed about 25,000 miles and it be right back in the same spot! Even my suede is messing up! I even try sitting differently as to not keep wearing on that same spot!

Thanks,

My lower cushion was replaced under waranty 3 times...the upper cushion was replaced once under waranty...the seat covers themselves were never changed because they didn't wear all the way through.

My waranty is long gone now and the seat was all messed up again so I tracked down new upper & lower cushions and new upper & lower seat covers
and had the whole driver's seat "rebuilt"...total cost...about $600.

Yeah, I know I could have got a pair of new aftermarket seats for a little bit more, but I really like the stock seats.

At least both seats match again...the passenger side still looked like new.
...now if I can just figure out how to drive the truck without actually sitting in the seat it will look good forever...those parts were kinda tough to find.

...and yes, it is a common problem with our seats, especially if you're, um,
"big boned" I am, so I guess I'll just have to deal with it.

HA HA, well I'm glad it's not just me!! I thought about trying to rebuild the cushion and get it to cover up the frame again but I have no idea on how to go about doing something like that. But yea I'm big boned too, about 6 2 weight about 270. I don't really know how to fix it but I need to do something cause there will eventually be a hole there.

I'd definitely look into Katzkin. I had some installed on a car in 2002 with added seat heaters. They come with a very thick padding and you can go with a leather/suede combo that is a close color match to the factory cloth/suede. They also have the heater and cooler accessories for added comfort.

While you're at it, get the pass side coverted to a bucket seat. Katzkin will custom make a cover for you if requested.

I had a hookup at the time that I bought my set and cost was $600. I think a lot of dealers are charging upwards of $1000 plus install. Installation is not hard at all if you have a free saturday afternoon.

Seems like its another one of the things we all seem to find after a while. My 01 has the same issue. It appears it has been a defect in the Gen II Drv side seat from the very beginning. When I do the seat conversion to add the Console .I'll have the upolstery shop add some foam and a piece of extra material over the seat frame that wears throught the origional cushion. Artie

You might be able to open up the hog ring clips That hold the seat cover to the frame of the chair.Than add some foam and a piece of material to span over the steel piece of the seat frame. Its that steel bar that works throug the seat foam. Hope this helps. Artie

Ford will fix it under warranty. The trick is while they are in there they need to add a bit of tubing around the frame bracket to stop the wear.

Well mine is a 02 but I did buy the extended warranty for 3 years, 36K miles. Can any ford dealer fix it or do you have to take it to a certified SVT dealer?
Mine will need a new seat cover and everything because you can see where it is worn, there's no hole yet but getting there.
